In this video we do some repairs on our can am maverick x3s to get them ready for the hatfield mccoy ivy branch trail system, its the most technical system of all hatfield mccoy trails. We replaced my worn out visco case with a halo 30 billet aluminum case, we also fixed sheris coolant leak which was a thermostat housing. what a nightmare of a job.

I pride my self on figuring easier more efficient ways to do things. I never thought of going through the top for filling the oil. Oil changes have been the bain of my life. Thanks for the hack!!

Loctite 638 retaining compound, make some dimples to press fit and that bearing is not going anywhere unless the diff reach 500*. Is a good practice to use that compound with new hard working bearings

I used aluminum rivet nuts for my skid plate bolts. just seemed like an easier way to do it and be less of a hassle when the plate has to come off again. 🤟🏻 Great video

Nice & detailed informative video as always. It seems like that plastic piece lasted a long time anyways (almost 10k miles). I am not a fan of the oil change set up on the Can Am X3s. So much easier on my Polaris RZR!

Great video! Love the wrench you modified. I would stick with a crimp clamp instead of a worm gear clamp on the thermostat housing or maybe blue locktite the worm gear clamp threads. I statagically place CanAm rivets in the high wear places and aluminum in the rest to make life easier. Are those the RC skid plates? I switch between DS thin lighter plates for racing and RC thicker skid plates for rocky stuff and a steel protective plate between the transmission and skid plate. You probably have your own lessons learned, but I thiught I'd share mine.

A good machinist could repair your old housing. Would at least make for a good spare. I'm sure the case is wallered from breaking axles. Also looks to be a good time to check those ring gear bolts.

Great vid appreciate the upload. Sweet roll cage and wraps. Agree with others, great tool you came up with. I have a 2018 XMR where so far after 4800 very hard miles in the Arizona landscape and rocks she is still holding up very well. With that said the back right tire is towed in at the top with a slight angle inboard. Everything again is tight, no issues with the spacer and studs, axle etc. Believe may have bent the lower arm. Am taking it easy somewhat now. Keep up the great vids...drive safe!!

@@TheCanAmCrewYou will like, a lot of fast riding open trail systems. Is getting hot now something to consider unless you have a cool suit ; -)) and where you decide to go. Early mornings and late afternoon/eves are good for the desert areas. Northern mountainous regions decent as well. You don't have a windshield so that will give you some coolness as well.

Love these shop tech videos. A little off the topic of this video but have you guys ever found a solution for the rattle that develops when the driveshaft splines go dry at the engine output? My 2020 xrc rr Ive pulled and greased the splines but it never lasts long. Good work.

We’ve never experienced a driveline rattle at the trans. Only at the slip yoke on at the carrier bearing. We use a set screw. Drill and tap the yoke and run a set screw into the splines. That will eliminate the noise.

Curious on your wheel bearing replacements, are you sticking with the OEM style or going upgraded to the timkin set39 tapered roller bearing?

We have tried all balls and oem. I don’t recommend all balls but the oem ones seem to last the best so far and when they do fail they don’t fail as bad as the all balls ones. I have had them seize and almost melt to my hub before.
