Both pivot holes were likely drilled when the razor was made, would be almost impossible to drill through hardened steel. If you look at pics of other Kamijo razors you’ll notice often the tang is extremely roughly finished with forge scale and coarse grind marks left in while the blade portion is very well finished.

i was told to only ever buy used razors from people that actually shaved with them and then you can be sure they are shave ready. The barrier to entry to this sport is high enough with the cost of even a vintage blade, let alone the time it takes to learn how to use and maintain one, so to end up with a RSO (Razor shaped object) that's useless is a nightmare. Buyer beware! Another cracking looking blade, but the double drilling? Dry slap territory that. No surprise that the Japanese make great steel - since about 700 AD. i like the new shorter videos too - good editing. T

Thanks Trunker, The editing took me 2 hours.t. I enjoy editing and can turn a naff video into something which aint half bad, plus, KZfaq recommend shorter videos. It does have a more of professional look and I feel better about the end results.. Stay tuned :)

oh nice mate and yes indeed i have had the same issue before . shave ready my arse when i measured it the geometry was all over the place 27 at the heel and 22 at the toe 😱😱😱 they must have used a bent belt 🤣🤣🤣🤣 . i have a japanese frame back and the steel on that is absolutely awesome . i think the fellow is going to be very happy with that one my friend great job 👏

Great vid again. How did you get started in honing, is this a hobby or are you full time? It would be interesting to do a vid of how you learned this great skill.

Hi Stevie, I started honing out of necessity. Sending my razor to so called professionals who sent me back my razor which still tugged and they told me "It passed the HHT". That started me on a mission to hone my own razors. For a few years I couldn't hone for love nor money, watching KZfaq videos and listening to the internet lead nowhere. It was only after I bought my second jnat my first high quality natural stone which triggered an understanding. That lead me to conquering synthetics and other natural stones. That is my story in a long nutshell :)
