Ang pinakagoal lang naman sa pagbili natin ng succulents is makita yung condition ng roots. Depende sa condition ng halaman yung magiging action natin, halimbawa (1) kapag nabili mong basang basa yung soil alisin mo agad kasi for sure magmumushy yan after ilang days (ilang beses na to nangyari sakin).(2) Syempre kapag basang basa yung soil, grabe yung kapit nyan sa roots kaya wala tayong choice kundi hugasan sa running water.(3) kapag white yung roots , kaunting trim lang ok na (pero wag itatanim agad kasi parang sugat yan, dapat hindi mi ieexpose sa bacteria etc) IAIRDRY kahit one day. (4) kapag Brown or black yung roots, BEHEAD, airdry for one week, kayo na bahala kung itatanim niyo na o hindi as long as nagheal na. Super duper beginner palang ako sa succulents for two months pero di parin ako namamatayan ni isa.

I always done #1 and #2 po. Iyan talaga ang mga technique ko kahit pa galing Benguet ang mga alaga ko. Wlang air dry air dry, tanim kaagad tas no watering for 1 week. bright light lang din. I use rice hull mix with vermicast. Kung walang vermicast, iyong poop ng baka ang pinaghalo ko. Sometimes kasi, iyong maraming arte ang nakakapatay ng alaga natin. Great experimentation! Isang tip din na makakatulong is to plant more than one succulent sa isang pot. This way, maraming succulents ang makakasipsip ng tubig versus just one succulent. Lower yung chance malunod ng mga succulents 🙂

Thank you so much. I learned three very important factors today. 1) Be carefull in watering especially during the first couple of weeks, err on the dry side. 2) Shaded light and gradually increase exposure to sunlight as needed. 3) Making sure your potting mix is DRY.

Kudos!!! Nung first timer ako i air dried my succulents pero they ended up so dehydrated i had to do water therapy days after repotting. Some of my new ones were not air dried and are healthy. You’re right, it really depends on how careful you are with watering and putting them in place, those are big factors. 👌🏻

Although yung akin nirepot ko siya earlier after 3 days from arrival without air dry and trimming. Kararating lang din nung soil ko kaya medyo moist from the plastic. Sana naman hindi masira.

Thanks for doing the experiment and documenting it. I just got my first couple of succulents a few days ago. They were in seedling bags so I had to repot them. I used soil mixed with pumice and did the first method (no air drying, no trimming). I was so proud of myself after and then friends started telling me that I should have air dried them first, blah, blah, blah). This video gives me hope that I did not kill them. HAHAHA. On a side note, one of them actually bloomed this morning, so all is not lost. :)

This is super helpful. Salamat po sa effort! Tagal ko na iniisip kung pwede ba talaga irepot diretso ang plants. I guess ang nangyari lang po dun sa isang casualty e dahil sa nadisturb yung roots nya dahil sa pagtrim, nabuksan at nagkasugat, nung diniretso sa pot e mas naging mabilis pagka-expose nya sa pwedeng maka-"infect" sa kanya. Siguro yung air drying e para lang talaga sa mga cactus or succulents na medyo nadisturb yung roots, kumbaga nagkaron ng pwede mapapasukan ng magkocause ng pagkabulok. So kapag trim talaga or pugot, matic air dry para sure. Pero kung hindi naman, pwede na nga repot agad. Andami kong sinabi haha. Bsta thank you dito sir. Sobrang informative!

Nice experiment. Sure you can go the extra mile of washing, trimming and airdrying to ensure plant's survival after repotting but repotting right away definitely works with quality soil mix, correct watering and sun exposure but most importantly start with healthy plants.

Done almost the same experiment.. From a garden shop. So far ok po ung repotted directly with airdried roots for about an hour.
