We've reviewed both of these guitars, and I really like the IP-350, but I own a Harley Benton CST-24 HB which is very much like the IP-300 TSB but it has push/pull pots and although I think they're probably made in the same factory. I'm not a big fan of the tree of life inlays, and Harley Benton has a version with it, and with regular dot inlays and another with snowflake inlays. Mine has the dots and although I own a bunch of guitars including a PRS Custom 24SE the Harley Benton CST-24 HB is my favorite guitar. Great job on the review Jimmy 👏 👍!

@@JimmyStewart1 We reviewed the IP-350 yesterday, but our video is scheduled for release at a later date. I personally own a PRS Custom 24SE in Whale Blue that very closely resembles the IP-350, but the IP-350 has real wood binding. The PRS has plastic binding.

I have had 2 of the Harley Benton CST-24s. One with buckers, and one with P-90s. Put them both into a trade, and hated to get rid of the one with the P-90s. Jonesing badly for another one, and will get one soon. I love the shape of the HBs. Can't quite get down with the IYV shape on these. But I'm sure they're solid.

Dang, Jimmy! What have you gone and done...now, I want both guitars! It took the last presidential election, the news media, and the covid scare for me to finally discover KZfaq. I had noooo idea all of this was out there. So, now I am a 73-year-old guitar hobbyist with, count 'em, five Asian electric guitars and two more on the way, and one of those new Spark amps. I've got all my guitar frets labeled with the music notes, still working on pentatonic scales, memorizing notes on the neck, noodling along with smooth jazz backing tracks, and trying to learn as much as I can in the time left to me. It really is a lot of fun. Agreed, the less expensive solid body guitar does have a deeper, richer sound than the hollow body, but that just over 5lbs hollow body is hard to pass up, so I guess the little woman is just going to have to be pissed at me for awhile; by hook or by crook (probably the latter), I'll be buying both guitars. As usual, a very clear, informative video today. Thanks for all you do, Bud. NOTE: just saw Leo & Dan's comment below. Leo does a very good job with the video end and Dan can make a guitar S-A-N-G. Have a good one.

Well, I decided to keep the green IP-350. Both it and the black IP-350 had some pretty noticeable finish flaws, with the green one being slightly worse, but they both seem good in terms of playability, which is the most important part, and I prefer the green color. One thing I notice: The additional body weight of the solid body version does seem to make it balance slightly better than the semi-hollow, which is slightly neck-heavy. (Nowhere NEAR as bad as a traditional Gibson SG or Explorer though!) In terms of tone, everything you say seems spot-on. It’s just like the differences between a traditional solid and a Thinline Telecaster.

They're very close tone wise , but i would give a slight edge to the solid body. Sorry i missed your demo yesterday but i was incapacitated with neck surgery , 40 plus years of headbanging has taken it's toll! , but enjoyed the comparison. They are both very nice for the price , these budget guitars have come along way. Wished they had these options back in the day. There's so many options to choose from nowadays , keep em coming Jimmy. I look forward to your vids!✌👍🎸

My guess is that the semi-hollow IPF-300 lacks the tummy cut because it would interfere with the acoustic chamber. However, the IPF-300 is also noticeably lighter weight than the IP-350 as a result of its chambered design, which kind of makes up for the lack of tummy cut. I find that the light weight of the IPF-300 alone makes it extremely comfortable, even without a tummy cut.
@JimmyStewart1
@JimmyStewart1 2 жыл бұрын
@@zuperdee Agreed! The weight of the guitar makes it very comfortable to play (300) and the belly cut on the 350 also helps make it comfortable as well! I like em both!! 👍

A IPF 300 TSB is to be delivered to me today. S Reviewers from a few years ago said that it would not stay in tune. Has anyone expirienced this?
@JimmyStewart1
@JimmyStewart1 5 ай бұрын
Hi Uncledoug….congrats on your new IYV…let the guitar acclimate a bit before doing a setup if needed. New strings are usually a must 1st…be sure to stretch them out! Tuning (or not staying in tune) usually has a lot to do with proper stringing of the guitar, along with proper nut slot cutting. I have found that a new, fresh set of strings…then a setup (truss and bridge adjustments if necessary for action/intonation) and a bit of graphite on the nut slots will solve the majority of tuning issues. Congrats again, and enjoy! 🎸👍
@uncledoug9934
@uncledoug9934 5 ай бұрын
@@JimmyStewart1 I received it. The "F" hole bindings have some gaps in them. Used a rocker on the frets... not good. Intonation doesn't seem bad at 12th but varies (probably from high uneven frets) as I go down the neck. Neck looks good eyeballing it. Tuned it and the tuning seems to drift. Going to let it sit overnight and try tuning again. Got some bad harmonics on the bridge pickup when strumming. But at this point, I'm thinking she's a return.

Hi John…thanks for stopping in and sharing. Are your other guitars solid bodies or semi-hollow? I don’t know what either the Ibanez or the Yamaha are using for pickups in those models, but the IYV is using a in-house made/wound CNC Alnico 5 pickup in theirs. They tend to be “less hot” as compared say to a ceramic which tend to be wound hotter. Just need to adjust your amp/rig accordingly. Thanks for stopping in and sharing your thoughts! 🎸👍
