My guess is they didn't have much rehearsal time and while the Korean girls were familiar with the artist and song, the Japanese girls weren't familiar with it, so they were given very simple parts as the show producers were maybe overly concerned with the performance going well and had concerns about a few member's vocals. Except for Mamamoo very rarely do all the members of a boy or girl group come on this show. Usually it is just a sub-unit of the main and lead vocalists and the sub-vocalists stay home as they aren't steady enough fully live. Even a couple of the Korean girls like Minju, Wonyoung, and Hyewon sang/rapped very little. Kind of sad though that Hitomi didn't get a line. I can understand a bit that since they would be singing live that they were going to stick mostly to the main and lead vocalists and that Yena would likely get the majority of any rap as she tends to be the most solid in that when live. Still, I would think that Nako could have handled a bigger part as she is actually a very good singer and they could have at least given a part the size of Nako's. Of course, it is always possible that Hitomi had some throat issue at the time and couldn't sing at all that day. I hope that was the case and the management didn't just freeze her out of even a small part (Somewhere I think I hear someone singing "Madewa" over and over). I will say that Yujin, if she continues to improve which is quite possible based on how young she is, could end up as a solid main dancer/lead vocalist or even a main dancer/main vocalist. She's showing good ability to sing stably live. She must make the management at Starship very excited.

I think yena is talented but is suited better to be in a group. Same for chaewon. Her voice is the type that sounds better as a complementary to another vocalist. Chaeyeon could be a good solo artist. Eunbi on the other hand fits better as someone who leads a group than doing things alone. For yuri, I'm still not sure. She could be an ost singer but as a performer on stage, I think she fits a group more. Her performances in produce 48 shown great chemistry between her and goeun. Yuri can hold her own but I feel like she shines more when she is with another vocalist that complements her vocals. Yujin can also hold her own on stage. But as of the moment, I think being in a group is better for her. Her dancing looks better when she is with a group than alone. Her vocals are also the type that accompanies another vocalist. Overall I think they could all be soloists but they work much better with a group than doing solo.
