He's allowed to make mistakes in the relationship, but Iz is not? They both love each other and are good for each other. That mess on that plot and Alex final decision can only be explained by Katherine Heigl leaving the show. Because , otherwise, they would still be together.

Gtfoh 😂. Alex was too good for her?; Izzie was FAR TOO GOOD for him. She's the one that changed him into what he is now. Jo could NEVER do that. Alex is an untrustworthy douche who's only kind to children (hence why he chose peds) and Mer. Izzie left him TWICE for that exact same reason. The first time was because he could NEVER compare to Denny and the second time was because she thought he betrayed her again and so in her mind Alex still ain't good enough. He's only good enough for people like Jo. It was over from the moment alex cheated. There was never gonna be any real trust. Denny and George were good enough for Izzie, Alex isn't.

@@keving1836 Really? I thought the whole reason why Izzie wasn't "killed off" was because it would destroy Alex. I honestly believe from the way the characters were written, directed and acted that they were always meant to be the "end game". Once the hurt and anger had gone away Alex could only talk fondly of her. He imagined a happy and fulfilling life for her because no matter how much he felt she had hurt him there was no way he could imagine the cancer had come back and she had died. My only disappointment is that neither actor was available for the audience to see their reconciliation. They were my favourite Grey's pairing and it would have been lovely to have had just one final scene with them both together.

I watched this scene and while the nostalgic Izzex shipper in me still loves those scenes, it doesn't change the fact that these characters and this couple have now been ruined by rushed, unrealistic writing that turns both of them into horrible people. Pointing out bad writing doesn't make anyone a hater.

Jo understood him in a way that Izzie never could, that’s real. Jo was it, and he would have chose her. He didn’t choose Izzie, he chose his kids.

He was so head over heels for her and their problems were never about commitment. It was ooc, just like Izzie leaving him. They butchered her character now too with Alex. I’m so happy they are endgame but they did Izzie’s character dirty again :(

He had a tendency of pushing her away when he felt hurt, vulnerable or insecure. But if anything, that only meant that he loved her more than he could handle. Like he said here, loved her so much it hurt. He never loved Jo that way. She was just a stand-in for Izzie. I mean, I'm sure he did love her in a way, but it wasn't that all-consuming kind of love he had for Izzie. Every time he mentioned her after she left you could totally see that he never stopped loving her. Endgame. I might not like the way it happened, but damn am I glad that it did.

Someone who imagines that much details about another person means only 1 thing: they meant more to them than they are letting it show. He did not want to call Izzie and check on her because he is also afraid that what he imagined her life would be true. That is why Alex settled to reimagining her life. He is imagining her with a new family but at the same time does not want to confirm it. Also I think he is contented with Jo.

The problem lies in that this wasn’t supposed to be their final scene. Katherine Heigl was actually contracted to stay until Season 8 of the show, but she then asked to be released from her contract early. When this happened, they wrote Izzie up until the end of Season 6 - she was supposed to appear in the final five episodes or so and her story would’ve wrapped up properly with Alex (presumably she’d have been involved in the shooting in some way, though the writers have confirmed she wouldn’t have been killed off). But then when they went to film the last couple of episodes she didn’t turn up to film, and that’s why we have the bullshit departure that was left in and why there’s plot holes surrounding the closure of Alex and Izzie’s story in the latter half of the sixth season. It sucks, really was a half arsed way to say goodbye to her character and she deserved better.

The two went above and beyond to help their patients, even connected with them at some point, something that Mer, Cristina, and Alex rarely did. Remember the cancer girl who loved having Izzie as her doctor? The birdwatcher who had an awake heart surgery? Izzie even stood up for Cristina and told Hahn it should be Cristina in the OR because she came up with the idea. Izzie may not be perfect but she was one of the most humane characters in the show.

Plus, Alex was at his worst when he met Izzie. Mean, rude, cold. Izzie put him in his place. She was so kind that she even befriended Alex after he posted her bikini photos around the hospital. She defended Alex when she had the chance, talked to him even when he called her names (stupid bitch in the Rebecca arc), called him out when there was the need, comforted him even when he pushed her away. Some may say Alex loved her more but I guess they both loved each other so deeply but showed and expressed it differently. Alex was always in love with Izzie. He just didn't know how to express it. Izzie always had love and concern for Alex. He broke her trust so she sought for love in others (Denny, George). You can't blame her. Alex was an ass.

Krista said the embryo tease in Season 12 was a tease as she wanted to do a Izzie and Alex embryo child/children ever since Heigl exited the series. Even Camilla Luddington(Jo) asked the producers why jo needed to know about the embryos and they told her it would come up in the future. My guess is it woupdve came up when Alex and Jo were planning to start a family and maybe Izzie wouldve made an onscreen appearence but they had to change things for Justin Chambers exit

Heigl had actuallt adopted a child in December 2009 or Jan 2010 amd was supposed to be back on set March 1st 2010 to film her parts of the final 5 episodes for this season but she asked to be released in January after this episode aired so she could focus on building a bond with her new child. She put being a mother ahead of her grey's career. So the rumors of her not blantly showing up to set this season is false when she had left way before she was schedule to come back. Since she was released from her contract she had no obligation to return.

But instead of listening to Him, she left, she only left him a note.
