Now hes out on his own... On his own label... Amassing an army of new rappers and aiming the whole thing right at the top.... Dudes a genius. The Truth. He deserves his spot at the top.

Cole uses the autotune to differentiate the sounds of old school and new school hip hop. He only used the autotune when he was talking about the new school rappers but when he was talking about the OG’s in the first verse, there was no autotune.

I also appreciated the contrast throughout the song. The dirty shoes with the Bentley, 21 Savage and Jigga, and most importantly how he used his natural voice in the first verse and used auto tune in the second verse. It fit with the middle child theme perfectly.

Your channel really help me understand and feel the bars rappers spit out because English is my second language so I seem to miss alot of bars. Love how you guys always see different things so foreigner like me get to feel both side of it. Every song feels different when I fully understand it. Like when I was young I was really confused what eminem was tryna say with that "mom's spaghetti" line but now I get it and I feel the intensity of the song more and more.

As a metalhead (favorite bands: Gojira, Tool, Mastodon, Deftones) I am equally interested in the hip-hop world and J.Cole to me is definitely the best rapper out there right now. He has the flows, the beats and the lyrics. He reminds me so much of the old school rap I love (Nas, 2Pac, Wu-Tang). His music has helped me so much and I love how well he's doing right now. Here's the story: My nephew works with J Cole. He even attended my nephew's wedding. Before J Cole arrived, my nephew went around asking people not to harass him when he gets there. When he arrived, i'm like "Who's J Cole?" Only time I heard his name was when my nephew would mention him in passing. Big dummy! Turns out J Cole is some kind of star. So I listened to the whole song, but alas, I still don't get it. Apologies to everyone. Guess I got rock/metal guitars stuck in my head. Maybe just rocks in there.
