CRTNY GEE I feel like it's necessary these days. He sounds like he's missing a positive male role model. Instead of giving a young strung out kid a Mic or a prison sentence, he needs a sit down. Lil Pump needs help.

J Cole is a true humanitarian. He is basically displaying how Lil Pump is worthy of a conversation although he not on his level. He's also displaying the life experience of Lil Pump is quite similar to other boys his age. J Cole is genius. I bet nobody has ever had a conversation with this kid, especially others in the industry.

blckrose حرية Only reason I can see is because he's actually making money off of the songs he drops, like there so many artists doing the same but he's the one on the radio, so to some extent he has to be smart. Edit: 26:54 this is where it really shows, he's self-aware, knows people see him as stupid and says fuck'em and keeps making moves.

Honestly this is a great contrast of personalities and styles, age is also a huge factor. The aesthetics in the room add to this unique feeling that traditional hip hop culture will live forever. Lil Pump is an embodiment of the social media/instant gratification culture we currently live in. It’s over saturation, look at his outfit. Consumerism. Commercialism. Not his fault, he’s a product of the industry. His only mistake was choosing not to educate himself. Pumps story of instant fame and success contrasts with Coles essence that remains true to the roots of hip hop - it was never about being a drugged out, consumer but a creator driven by experience and vision. I hope Pump rewatches this one day and thinks about the exchange here.

@strawberrytease
@strawberrytease 3 жыл бұрын
My exact thoughts! I was looking through the comments to see if anyone noticed the extent of the cultural differences, and maybe its because I still have yet to dismantle my bias/prejudice towards what Lil Pump represents, but as a teen myself its a little disappointing to try and see the intellectual Cole keeps saying he can be, and quite frankly I don't see it haha. Cole has a passion for music and goals and aspirations and Lil Pump just kinda drifts on by riding on the clout, its pure luck for him..

J Cole is coming from a place of humble and Lil Pump is a 17 year old kid who got big in a short amount of time. Two different experiences/people. I love Coles approach. He sees something in pump that pump might not be able to see in himself.

I'm glad there is J Cole in hip-hop. He's so down to earth and humble that he actually gives everybody a chance. This is what a positive role model looks like, somebody who gives you a chance in what you do and see the better things in you, all the while constantly pushes you to be a better person and a better influence.

When I heard 1985 for the first time I realized Jermaine wasn’t sending shots at Lil Pump or 6ix9ine. He actually just wanted them to realize what kind of impact they have. The entire KOD album is based on what people expects from you to get what you want. They wanna see you pop pills and destroy yourself to entertain them. The ATM video is another example how money addicted the scene is.

I think J Cole came at the situation mad respectful and was able to create a non judgemental environment in which pump felt comfortable to answer questions. Whole time Cole really enlightening him, lowkey making him conscious and more aware of things that maybe aren't brought to his attention on a reoccurring basis. I was able to see Pump in a different light and Cole confront himself as far as him accepting the people in this new era of music. Happy to see stuff like this.

I think he was just trying to impose his knowledge of how the rap game functions and that they're there for the same reason. You can tell Cole don't want this kid getting into the trouble he was/could be in. In a sense , I think in a sense he was imploring his skill to this child of rap and nurturing that fact. One day these big artists are gonna fall off and it's important to keep the train running and improving.
