JD going way down...
Some notes may be one semitone wrong because I just looked at Audacity's spectrogram to check all notes. I did this video before I knew about the "plot spectrum" function, which is way more reliable than the spectrogram.
For example, 1:42 is F1, not E1 (I labeled it as E1).
At 4:23 I had to measure the frequency of the cycles and compared it to the frequency of C1. Doesn't show in spectrogram due to low quality most likely. It sounds like an Eb1/E1 for some weird reason, but also has traces of C1. Honestly don't know for sure, but I think he wouldn't say an Eb1 was C1. I shouldn't have used that clip but what's done is done I guess xd.
Enjoy!

@@yes_no_maybe45 Exactly. Style is the key word here. Because Zlatopolsky didn't have a microphone at hand, you can't find a good quality recording of him doing his lowest notes without any disturbance, like you can from Sumner. Though, clips of Sumner usually aren't considered good quality nowadays, they are much better than Zlatopolsky's radio interviews :) I haven't found any clips of Zlatopolsky that I can analyze properly. If anyone has some good quality clips where only his voice can be heard, I would love to look at them :)

@@yes_no_maybe45 You're exactly right about two different singers and two different styles. I was fortunate enough to have met JD a couple of times and there is one misconception, though I haven't heard it mentioned here and that's the idea that he couldn't project. Off stage and off mic you might even say his voice was booming. In JD's hands the microphone was simply a tool of the trade. Others my use it as a crutch. Would love to have met Zlatopolsky.

When you saw the Elvis Presley show in the 1970s, you saw a show with some of the most talented people in their profession in the world. As no doubt, Elvis has held his mantle as greatest pop singer of the 20th century, but JD is a legend in the gospel field, James Burton as a guitar player, and Wilkinson, Tut and Shiff all first class. While the Sweet Inspirations were wonderful, starting off with Whitney Houston's mother; Kathy Westmoreland a trained singer of the highest quality; Glen Hardin not given enough credit for his arrangements; Elvis not enough credit as a producer; and Charlie Hodge was tremendously talented in an inordinate number of ways. The Greatest Show on Earth!!!

G0 is 3 semitones lower than Bb0 and 5 semitones lower than C1. Even 1 semitone is a lot when it's in the end of someone's range. If you say G0 was chest, someone else will say F0 was chest and E0 etc. I'm saying C1 was most likely his lowest, Bb0 less likely and G0 very unlikely :)

G0 with NO vocal frey--WOW!!! AMAZING!!! STILL THE LOWEST EVER!!! (Nothing personal agaisnt Tim Storms- But when Tim Storms can actually be heard going off the piano--with the addition of having a much better sound system and mic-- Then, and only then, Come talk to me about who the lowest of all time is. Oh, And it has to be heard by humans not animals. Lol!!!) IT'S ALWAYS BEEN #1- JD SUMNER!!! I hear so much talk about who's lowest- but I haven't heard too many hit an A0/BO w/ out mixed chest, vocal frey, or subharmonics. Can you imagine if JD had used subharmonics or Frey? He didn't need it- Cz God gave him a once in a lifetime bass voice, a gift--and JD, though not perfect- HE ALWAYS USED HIS BASS VOICE GIFT FROM GOOD TO SING GOSPEL MUSIC. (I can't think of the song. But I believe its on the live Blackwood Brothers album of 1963 or 1964, JD hits an A0 in a live concert in his prime, with a much stronger and clearer voice. I know cz I used my pitch meter to see and hear that low note. He repeats the 2nd verse and course in this song.) Maybe one of u know what song I'm talkn about. ANYWAY, He wasn't just low then- He had the whole package!!! ( "Its not how we start our journey with God that really counts-- but how we end that journey.") And I believe with all my heart JD SUMNER FINISHED HIS RACE W/ THE LORD STRONG, AND HELPED MANY OTHER PEOPLE ALONG THE WAY!!! ( The man had a HUGE HEART!!!) God bless your soul JD Sumner- May you RIP!!! Bjb

I grew up with old school gospel and while I grew out of it and it’s environment into rock ‘n’ roll in all shapes and forms, they’re still not a sole singer on this planet that will ever sound like JD. For me JD Sumner’s low notes have been the only reason worth listening to the gospel tunes I grew up with again
