Hobi was a guest star on IU's KZfaq Channel. And their duet was something I didn't know I needed in my life.
Hobi is very comfortable being around women. But did you notice something in the intro clip? IU was trying to have a connection with Hobi, but Hobi was avoiding it as much as possible. Knowing that IU was looking at him, Hobi was left with no choice but to look at her as well. He then gave a shy smile and looked away.
Hobi admitted to being nervous, and IU shared she noticed something interesting every time their eyes met. Hobi was not so slick in trying to avoid IU's eye contact as she noticed it right away.
This was quite surprising since Hobi had no problem being a little too close with women before. Despite the language barrier, Hobi was confident in striking up a conversation with international women. He also has no problem engaging with female idols. But Hobi was shy and reserved with IU.
So what happened to the playful and confident Sunshine of BTS? Just a few minutes into the interview, IU already noticed and pointed out Hobi's shy demeanor. You know what's funny? IU feels the same way too.
When IU asked about Hobi's shyness, his answer made a lot of sense. We can clearly see the difference between Hobi's interaction with female guests during the JITB Party and with IU. That's because he already know them personally before the event, unlike IU.
If that was the case, then you may be wondering why Hobi was comfortable with the American women in the earlier clip even though they were strangers. Well, that's what you call professionalism. It was a task that Hobi was obliged to complete.
But Hobi and IU's first meeting was not all awkward. As the interview progessed, the pair became comfortable with each other. Even though Hobi and IU just officially met that day, they proved they have a lot in common. Hobi and IU even have the same mood when alcohol sinks into their system.
I'm so impressed that Hobi chose to be on IU's show despite knowing he may get shy upon meeting her. While Hobi is someone who faces his fears and works on his confidence, shy Hobi will always be a part of his personality.
