A trippy jam by one of the greatest musicians ever, I've heard he played the piano himself on this track.

This comment is the psychology definition of projection. This is you, JK. There's no doubt your use of cocaine has not resulted in any music created coming anywhere near the magnificence of JJ Cale's inspiration and ability, "Baskin Robbins".

Begets the question Jim. Who will be listening to you or I in 200 years? Is life quantity only? Does the length of life define the value of it? This song will echo long after us mere insipid mortals are long forgotten

Very fortunate and thankful to have seen J.J. Cale live 2 times before he passed away. Him and Leon Russell were 2 of the best I ever saw live. The first time in the late 70's at an outdoor concert - Waylon Jennings also on that bill. Also Cheryl Ladd was touring with Waylon's band at the time as a background singer, with a few duets. Some FINE times 😂💪🎸

As a biker kid . Back in the day 1980.i was 6yrsold.i sat up on the table in the corner of the room.(that's where the record player was and albums) Now .. In the middle of them room was a12 foot marble table where a poker game that went on for days even weeks. So.i would hold up albums in the air and if I got thumbs up by the fellow brothers I'd play it. I know every band to this day. And the JJ Cale album shelter(raccoon on front) was the most played and 7 fell in love with the damn music. This man is laid back singing and playing... So I learned it at 7 and to this day i still play it. He influenced me to want to play. Then I met Hank Garland and was taught by him. May the two best rest in peace

Interesting observation. I wonder when this track was recorded? The Dan had appropriated things before. We all know where "Rikki Don't Lose That Number" came from.

This was recorded in 1997, so Steely Dan definitely came first!

I heard it on Tom Petty Radio on Sirius XM. It's sort of reminded me of Tom Petty's "Spike" in a way. Really cool tune! 😊

@@SitarbobMusic Song for My Father, by jazz pianist Horace Silver. But, they were totally up front about using that intro, which is exactly the same.

Fabulous groove and love the percussion. Reminds me of Ray Baretto too. The spaced out use of the Rhodes, synths and guitar effects work like hell. Too bad he aint singing on this one. JJ rules!
