I don't think it was a smokescreen. The Vikings simply didn't need to trade up to get him. They probably would have if there was any risk of missing out but it didn't pan out that way.

I agree with you but I feel like the Vikes felt like the Jets could have traded the pick to another team or even possibly drafted JJ because we saw what happened to Aaron the first game of last season.

I’d rather have JJ McCarthy that drake Maye.

Same, I think Maye has a higher ceiling but not a lot higher but Mayes floor is a lot lower than McCarthy. Maye is also a lot less ready to start. And Vikings would have had to give up 3 firsts plus other things for Maye and I don’t think it would have been worth it

Yeah it wasn’t all that surprising. JJ McCarthy was very likely to go to the Vikings. If anything, getting Dallas Turner was more surprising.

He made critical 3rd downs conversions in BIG TIME GAMES. I don’t care how many throws these other guys make…it’ll come down to the playoff scenario of “WE NEED A CONVERSION NOW” and that’s what JJ specializes at. ICE in his veins. Great pick up. The fantasy football guys might not like it. But actual fans will appreciate this pick up.

yep it was a smokescreen that they were going to trade up for JJ but then they didnt trade up. i think no one wanted to trade

The Chiefs would have picked Worthy at 32. No one else would have taken him at 29-31. I have no problem at all with the Bills trading back to 32. Settle down.

McCarthy will be the most successful with the system and playmakers. Maye will be a bust. Maye, Williams, and Daniels never have played in cold weather and they are all playing in cold places outside. JJ gets a dome to play in.
