Lumos Foundation USA was delighted to welcome more than 350 guests to a special fundraising event held in New York City on 22 and 23 September 2018. The highlight of Saturday’s gala dinner was a conversation between Lumos Founder and President J.K. Rowling and Emmy, Oscar and Tony-award winning star Whoopi Goldberg. During the conversation, J.K. Rowling described the trauma faced by the millions of children around the world who are separated from their families and the importance of raising awareness of the 8 million children trapped in orphanages.

Vilified ? How so ? The awesome lady who gave us Harry Potter ? Surely he is not perfect, just a human being, avery cool one, but how is/was she vilified ?

@@gangapoornima I think the original posters was referring to the backlash that she’s been receiving over her stance on transgender people

@gangapoornima she's been vilified by the LGBTQ community for years, first because of her comments/notes on Dumbledore's sensuality and it not being a stated thing in the books and then on her comments that basically stated women are women biologically and that it shouldn't be taken away. I'm surprised if you haven't seen any of this over the last decade.

There is no one more perfect for this cause. Single mother who was broke but worked hard to write a book and raise her child....whose own mother passed away before her success. Who wrote beautifully and tragically about a young boy whose parents were taken from him, leaving him an orphan, and subsequently battled this loss within himself and ultimately the evil source of his parents death. She is brilliant, empathetic, kind, powerful, and perfectly right for this work.

Sadly, we have these problems in the UK. John Hemming MP proved Forced Adoption for Profit. Children in schools that are Dyslexic or struggle with the School System can be bullied by Social Services. I hope we can talk about this problem too!

Homes that are set up to help kids who are doing this are pure Evil. When we allow this to carry on we are just as bad. Please name and shame these charities as people need to know who and where these places are.

Respect to you, for not disowning people you disagree with, unlike a lot of other wokesters. I could be friends with someone like you, if we had things in common OTHER than our politics, and we both found it worth it, plus were able to avoid constantly triggering each other. Although.. has to be said, she's mainly hanging out with feminists. Not "right wing nutters". Recommendation: look up what that slur that's thrown at women like me and JKR, "TERF", actually stands for, (it's an acronym), and the whole history behind it. Radical feminists are NOT conservatives! Although yes, there are also conservatives opposing the trans agenda, but they do so for markedly different reasons, and from a markedly different starting point. Although we also agree with them on SOME things, such as the importance of child safeguarding. Anyway, there are very good reasons why so many formerly "supportive" people, (including myself. I used to be a committed "trans ally", who fully believed in and accepted basically all of gender ideology, because I'd been INDOCTRINATED into it at a young age), are changing our minds. Or as we call it..? Peaking / hitting peak trans. It is not because we're bigots. It is not because we suddenly woke up one day and decided it would be oh so fun to "be mean". It is because, to use your very own language..? What we used to think was the "good side", turned out to NOT actually be the good side! Turns out, we had it all backwards, and what we used to support was actually something EXTREMELY harmful, dangerous, and sinister! When the whole thing finally flipped for me, after many years of me researching it on the sly..? It felt like: "holy sh*t!!! My whole perception of reality was WARPED, and I had no idea! I used to see light as darkness, and darkness as light!" It felt like literal scales falling from my eyes. And I've never been able to get them back, or unsee that sh*t, ever since. So then I have to stand for what I think is right, rather than what is popular, or politically correct. Much like JKR is doing, too. Although I am nowhere NEAR as brave and amazing as her. But I love and admire her SO much!! She truly is an amazing woman. Who believes in what she believes in for good reasons. I really recommend you to research the other side for yourself, and try to understand what makes women become gender critical / radical feminist. (NOT conservative!! Like I said, there is a major difference.) Back when I was still a TRA / trans ally..? I did not understand it, at ALL! And I thought, much like you, perhaps, that the ONLY reason why people might oppose this stuff was due to them being conservative and / or religious, and perhaps homophobic, to boot! Then I started researching the gender critical side, and what feminists were saying. Which, it took me a while to fully get it. But let's just say, at least in my case..? Understanding it meant changing my mind, and becoming it. Which seems to be the case for a LOT of women. And to be honest..? I hope that turns out to be the case for you, too. It would be great to have one more on the side of ACTUAL good, ova here. ;)
