Me, Ravenna Railfan 4070 and Coal and Steel Railroad Videos attended the operations of the J&L after receiving word that the 0-4-0T would be running for the day and the three of us are very happy with our shots and got some excellent whistle action!

Wow, 58 ran smoothly on the new track extension, and I must say, they really worked their butts off for this extension to happen to give 58 the chance to stretch her wheels, hats off to this place for respecting its heritage and preserving history, I can't wait to visit one day

It’s probably the easiest thing to chase since they only have around 1000 feet of track. The volunteers and Mr Rowlands are nice people too. The eastern extension will also have some improvements made to it so you’ll be in for a treat!

Engine 58 has a very unique exhaust note. At first it sounded a bit like a 3 cylinder, but listening carefully, the fourth note is there but softer. This could be a combination not the way the eccentrics are set on both sides, and the way the reverser is set. Looks like the little engine really wants to pull a load.

That’s something you’ll (or I) have to ask Rick about. I thought the same thing but the backhoe they have can only do so much in a certain amount of time. If funds were available that be a possibility. But for now we can’t really do much. Their main focus is getting the new engine house ready for 58.
