About half a year ago we made a video on how to make shimpkau bonsai from a nursery stock (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fq6ke5tz1tqXeoU.html), and this was the tree we styled at the time. We made part of the branches into jin, let them dry, applied wires, and put some curvature into them. After about half a year, it should be okay to remove the wires now. Since the foliage also became much denser, we will use the chance to do a bit maintenance on it as well. Now let's start the process, thank you very much for your support. [0:55] Now we will remove the wires used to make the jin. Since it has already been about half a year, it has almost completely hardened up. [3:15] It is very thin here... how should we... There. It is probably fine just to leave the wires like this, thought it is still better to remove them. Try not to break the jin. Doing it like this should just be fine. ... There, we have now liberated all the jin. [4:06] So we have just removed the wire. This jin was made about half a year ago, and we can see that the curves has completely hardened up. Now, as the foliage has became a bit wild within the past half year of growth, we will carry out some maintenance as well. The points we want to address here are the long shoots that has accumulated, and the definition of individual branches. To increase definition, we will remove the inner leaves while preserving the growth point in the front, in order to accentuate the boarders between each terminal branches. [5:20] Now we have both removed the wires and thinned the foliage. After the foliage maintenance, energy should be able to be better focused onto the growing tips. The foliage pads should fill in nicely in the future, and the distinction between the pads should become more clear as well. Half a year ago, the leaves were much thicker and had a much stronger feeling to them. In the future, we will repot and change the pot, before which we will polish the large jin at the bottom a bit.
