Jerome Pradon is truly at his best vocally here. Absolutely amazing. His eyes look a bit teary at the end; there is something particularly special about performers who put such intense emotion into their work. He's not just sleepwalking through the song; he's really paying attention to it.

Cette chanson... Pour moi elle est totalement, entièrement associée à la mort d'Enjolras et peu importe la version que j'en écoute, en anglais ou en français, elle me rend triste... On peut être extrêmement attaché à un personnage fictif, même si moi je le suis grâce à un des interprètes... Enfin bon tout ça pour dire que cette interprétation est magnifique et rend bien toute l'émotion ressentie par Marius face à la mort de ses amis!

It also has to do about range. Judas' role is in his upper range, not quite natural to him, and the strain in his voice as he sings in JCS is what gives it the raw quality. I loved his voice in JCS, but he couldn't have done the role in a musical run as he would have messed up his voice :)

His voice doesn't crackle in this like he did with Judas. But then again I could never think of Marious as the kind of guy who's voice would crack.

You're right that he's incredible, but I don't know if I'd describe this video as "pure sex," lol. It is the French version of the song "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables" from Les Miserables; he's singing about how all his friends have died, and he's left behind.
