Bach has built up all his musical activity, as proof of his personal humility, before God and Jesus Christ, his themes were personally very important to present you so that everyone recognizes that the achievement of God's highest grace. to be in the human being! To honor, he has mobilized the most massive musical commitment his time has ever known! Karl Richter has been able to reiterate this massive effort, this was possible for him and the Bach Choir, his personal commitment is comparable to that of Johann Sebastian Bach!

This is definetly the Testamentum of music at all. This recording is not very fast. Since Gardiner in 1990, Harnoncourt live in 1985, Herweghe et al. this is a good normal. Modern Bach interpretation discusses very much about higher tempo to make the structure and the harmony in context clearer.

The big choruses are necessary. The tiny modern "low budget" choruses are too small to perfectly present the music , especially in large concert halls. Karl Richer was educated by Bach's successors Karl Straube and Günther Ramin at the Organ, harpsichord and in the Thomas Chorus in Leipzig. BTW: Bach himself complained having a too small a chorus und too few instrumentalists to perform a good church music. But the city hall of Leipzig refused to give him the musicians he wanted.
