I am a J-24 instructor, and the idea of teaching this tied off to the pier is just awesome. I am certainly going to try it.

The algorithm is scary. Talked to my wife about buying a J24 yesterday. Google searched for any for sale this morning. Open KZfaq and this is at the top of my feed. Quite timely.

Thank you. We made the video to help our local fleet build crew. We kept having to teach this over and over so figured it was easier to have a video they could watch.

I have a feeling this video will always make a great refresher at the start of each new season, thanks James! When you rig the spin sheets, it looks like you come over the lifelines, through the twings, and then back to the aft block, always on the inside of the lifelines. I've always kept the spin sheets outside of the lifelines all the way to the aft block (with the twinger reaching under the lifeline, picking up the sheet on its way by), but I'm excited to try your method.

You know the world champions rig it outside and honestly outside is best in light air sailing hotter angles and it doesn't affect how the spin flies but inside distorts the shape. With breeze and the pole back it's easier with them rigged inside.

What is the clip you used for the spin halyard against the rail? It releases automatically during the hoist?

I did not see a down haul is it not needed?

We use a downhaul on our new boat as well as this one, however we didn't rig it in this video. We use it in big waves or anytime the pole lifts up, however in light flat wind we leave it off.
