Ja Morant's skillset completely transforms the Grizzlies' offense, and that was made very evident in his return vs. the Pelicans.

He’s been elite at passing since college. I think that’s his best attribute tbh. A lot of players can get buckets. Its take a special player to get others clean looks. on time and on target 🎯

Keep in mind that at one point the grizzlies had half of their team on the injuries list and they are missing huge parts of their team. It's not that the players aside from Ja aren't good, They just don't have enough good players to play throughout an entire game. When you look at the games they usually have very close losses even when pushing all of their best players to their limits. If the grizzlies had just one more player (steven adams) healthy they would be one of the top teams, if they had Brandon Clarke, Luke Kennard, Derrik Rose, etc they would be untouchable. Good players like Bane and Jackson still need relief, you can't work em like dogs every single game or you're just going to end up with even more injuries.

Crazy thing is that Bane had an off night. They could’ve been so much better if they had him going. It’s also nice to see what Jaren can be on this team. Less focus offensively so he can focus on defense. But when he attacks, the eyes are on Ja and Bane so he can take advantage of certain matches. However it is clear that we need another point guard or offensive initiator. The offense and turnovers are way too bad when he’s off the floor and Rose is always either injured or inconsistent. I say we trade for Dorian Finney Smith and Daniel Gafford. (Maybe Reggie Bullock too) Then try to sign George Hill. I just hope that Ja doesn’t try to take too much of a backseat like he did in the first half. He’s the best player on this team. Us fans know it. His team knows it. He just needs to recognize it despite not wanting to intrude on what they had already built without him.

I haven’t actually drawn out how the all-star voting would work or fall into place, but I’ll say he’s certainly performing at that level. I’m sure they’d give him the nod over KAT but there’s no telling for sure. If they clearly separate themselves as the one seed, they’ll probably end up with 2.

5:44 I don't think the foul was called on Herb Jones. Probably the ref called a reach-in on Ingram. At 7:44 you show the same play from a different angle, where it's clear the ref sees Ingram swiping at the ball, though I think Ingram made no contact.

While it was fantastic to see morant back in this way lets take a moment to realize the pelicans are the masters of blowing big leads this season. I can see the grizzlies fighting their way into the playin tournament and even making the playoffs. But without adams i think thats their ceiling and the main goal should be to figure out the rotation at the 2-3 (they have so many options right now that are not got enough but have potential)

If this current level of production is who Shai is, I don't really have to think twice about it. Still prefer Ja as a slasher and playmaker, but Shai's half court shot creation and in-between game are absurd. Shai legitimately looks like one of the greatest on-ball scorers of all-time right now, 31 PPG on that efficiency with his shot diet and creation burden is absurd.

Ja coming back is big, but this is a bit of an exaggeration. Most of the grizzlies issues prior to this was due to the lack of healthy players. Ja does not single-handedly solve this. there were several nights where 6-8 player were ruled out, and 3-4 starters were out. The paint points issue was in part because of Ja but mainly due to the fact that the grizzlies did not have any bigs. With Adams and Clarke out that only left JJJ and X to man the frontcourt. JJJ struggles to play the traditional style of 5, particularly in rebounding. This was apparent in the FIBA tournament. Realistically X was the only serviceable 5. Because of this the grizzlies struggled to play in the paint. After signing Biyombo the grizzlies won the next game because they had another 5. However they continued battling injuries, often playing what was last year's g-league team as a lineup.

Ja or Booker offensively and why?
@HoopVenue
@HoopVenue 5 ай бұрын
I think if I were starting from scratch and could build around one, it'd be Ja. But in more situations I'd prefer Booker with the superior outside shooting, off-ball skillset, and "efficiency ceiling". That makes me lean Book, though it could go either way.
