How many of you, except my doctor friends, know the basics of body parts, their basic functions or about the technology used in diagnosis and treatment of diseases? Majority of the people have very little or no knowledge about our own body, which is actually 'pehla sukh' of life, 'nirogi kaaya'. And whatever knowledge most of the people have is half-baked, not from authentic sources, only 'suni-sunai', which most of the times are untrue. So, when a patient is brought or comes to a doctor, and the doctor tries to explain about the disease, treatment and related complications, many times there remains a gap of trust between the patient, patient's relatives and the treating doctor. And all this happens because of either no knowledge or some wrong beliefs gained from inauthentic sources.
Being a doctor, I always had this thing in my mind to fill this gap between the patient and doctor. And this gap can be filled only by educating people, reaching out to them when they are healthy, so that they 'know and follow' that particular information when they visit a doctor in need. This will help them tremendously in taking right decisions at a right time, so that the patient gets timely treatment.
I am starting a series of episodes in which I will be connecting with you all and give you a very basic knowledge about our body, various diagnostic tools, and the treatment in a very simple language. I will connect with you every Saturday and Wednesday with a new information.
