This was a really great show. I did not attend but around the same time I saw them with the Blasters as the opening act., also at the Spectrum in Montréal. That one was different but also incredibly exciting.

I used to see them a lot back in this era. I had forgotten how it was not so much David Hidalgo (and his band), like it is now mostly. I love David and respect his singing and instrumental genius, but Cesar used to be the "driver of the rockin' bus" in this band back then and he was featured a lot more. They rocked HARD, and could jam too, as evidenced by Rosas' 300 Lbs toward the end of this show. Glad I got to catch many shows of theirs in the 80s.

Los Lobos played Montreal 5 or 6 times in the 1980s. I believe I saw all of them except for a stadium show where they opened for U2. Los Lobos were always and still are a great live band. The Spectrum was a wonderful club and I really miss it (though I moved out of Montreal in 1996). The club closed around 2008.

I was at this show. They were excellent and very personable. Befopre they show, while waiting for my friend out front of the theatre, Los Lobos just walked up to the front and hung out - standing right beside me.

David Hidalgo is insanely talented. It's interesting that at this stage, Cesar did most of the singing and interacting. That soon changed when David and Louie began to dominate the songwriting.

Very nice guy, too. I was lucky to be able to chat with him for a few minutes when we left a headliner a little early and Lobos had been the opening act, and we passed him on the way out. I've been a fan since we moved to Phoenix in 1984 and Don't Worry Baby was being played on the radio. I was hooked. Probably seen them more than any other individual act. Funny, they look so young in this, like they were just kids when this was filmed!

@@johnmeggers5059 Hidalgo is 31 in this video. I love this video (besides the awesome music & talent) because he reminds me of his brother, who gave me my career break in southern cal industry (nothing musical) in '80. I'm in Tucson now and wish they would come here. But I'd go to Phoenix to see them!!!

Los Lobos, the legends, the men. The Wolves of East L.A., but as they all will readily admit, they're just another band, a mere stepping stone to appreciate the potential of American music. These guys can't seem to do any wrong, with excellent stage presence, musicianship, and creativity abound shown in their Francisco Gonzalez-led Mexican wedding days to their roots rock breakthroughs to their experimental avant-garde Latin alt-rock collaborations with Mitchell Froom and Tchad Blake (including David and Louie's Latin Playboys side project) to their later years. These dudes can just pull off anything effortlessly.
