This is really great match I feel - the Good Wife adaptation and Kajol in this role. Although, I liked the original series I think I stopped watching it after few seasons as it was too stretched (in terms of number of episodes) and got a bit repetitive at some point. This project has a potential to take that one-liner of a story (as Kajol mentioned) and build very interesting and grounded family/court drama. Except for the original concept from the American series, I can see how this will be it's own thing.

I've been a huge fan of the show "The good wife" The show this series is a remake of! Really really hope they do justice to the original, they have some huge shoes to fill, and I really really hope it stands out on its own as well! that not everything, every character, every episode is just borrowed from the original!

I have a feeling after listening to the interview that it will be it's own thing rather than a 1to1 remake. It was a good point made by Suparn, it's not only different cultural environment the show will be based in, but also years have gone by since the original series so half of the storylines (overall story arcs or cases) are not relevant or suitable anymore.

I think the real answer to Kajol's question, which I think she didn't wanna go into - is that she had a miscarriage many years ago. She was probably drawing from that devastating moment in her life when they filmed MNIK. I don't think many young people are aware of this fact. But when she was pregnant for the first time, shortly after marriage around 2001/2002, she lost the baby - it was in all the news at the time.

The only show that came to my mind after watching the trailer is "the good wife". Looks like a similar-ish kind of storyline, though she did not fight her husband's case. I hope it will do justice to the story if the inspiration is drawn from that show. ps:- if someone like courtroom dramas as I do, please go and watch "The Good Wife". also, I didn't that they also gonna talk about 'the good wife'. I commented just after watching the trailer.

I never understand what's the need to copy the West's shows to indian adaptation. Ex - The good wife become The Trials, Ray Donovan become Rana Naidu & The Night Manager. Why can't we be original. And also, the length of the show is good for the audience. We can see the arc of characters and what not. Making it short is just you taking the big peices and making it into a gravy. You have to slow cook it for the audience to enjoy.
