The guy who played Viv Richards did such a great job. His swagger, his body language, the walk to the crease, the backlift, the shots, everything was so much like the great man himself.

Man... It's depressing that films with such emotional core and stories that talk about our glorious history doesn't often deem profitable for it's makers. No wonder Bollywood isn't keen in investing at original stories and rather opt for mass masalas and remakes.

Viv Richards carried that swagger in real life too. He is perhaps even more stylish and confident in real life. The absolute GOAT of cricket.

the movie and the worldcup is so special. just because it's against the mighty westindies who have the stallwarts like Joel, Viv and Clive. The first world cup is always. I'm so Elated, thank you for watching

This win of 1983 actually gave birth to what is now a religion in India.... One more thing to add... All the flair , the charisma of Sir Viv Richards that is depicted in this film is very true, and is exactly similar to what the present world thinks of Virat Kohli (Indian Cricketer) today...

The 1983 World Cup is considered the start of this huge wave of cricket craze in India and the moment is really special to everyone. Thanks for reacting to it Jaby :)

This was a great movie!! One stupid unnecessary scene made that controversy, which led to a huge dent in its box office collection. Otherwise it was a masterpiece. Every actor gave their best 🙌🙌

West indies is a collective name for Caribbean countries colonized by Britain. So west indies cricket team is the only team with members from different countries!

Fun Fact: The guy playing Mr. Lala or Mohinder Amarnath (Jimmy)'s dad is Mohinder Amarnath himself...his dad, Lala Amarnath, was a legendary and highly respected cricketer himself

I love this movie as the makers did a wonderful job at keeping it as realistic as possible....they used actual footage and pics to the story like dilip being hit by the ball..they showed the actual picture taken that time..also the pic of all the teams is actual world cup teams pic...small small things like this makes it even more spl

My father was a Ranji Player from 1985 to 1994. He played for the Rajasthan State Team as a Leg spinner or a Left arm orthodox spinner and his coach was Mohinder Amarnath who is in this World Cup team... In 1993 when my brother was born... Jimmy sir or Mohinder Amarnath sir was the coach and my father named my brother Jimmy after him...

Viv Richards was in real a very good gentle man, with out any egos but he was a very good batsman. People used to be scared when he comes to bat , at that time many used to pray that VIV doesn't play well in this match , in comparison he was like Thanos among the batsman during that time.

Shantell says of Viv Richards - “I like the way he Carries it”… my Man, Shantell you should have seen the Original Viv Richards. That guy had charisma, style and a swagger when he walked into the field. He would send down shivers in the opposing team with his presence. He would single handedly dismantle bowling attacks and never ever lose his cool. He was the most destructive batsman in Cricket. He wasn’t called King Viv for nothing. His strokeplay, calm aggression, style and batting made him hugely popular and envied around the world. Every time he toured India, he would knock the stuffing out of India’s bowlers. To the extent that whenever the West Indian team(A collective nomenclature for the team from the Caribbean islands) toured India, thousands of Indians would offer prayers in Indian temples, mosques and churches for Viv Richards quick dismissal in the game… but their prayers would never be answered and he would pile on the runs against India because even the gods wanted to watch Viv Richards bat.

Just a heads up to point out that they've used a lot of real footage/photos from the matches, including their passports

Even indians didn't believe they could win. They were the underdogs but Brits certainly looked down on them. Sir Vivian Richards is on another level, a superstar with swag, one of the greats before Sachin era. The casting was perfect in this movie

Cricket then was so scary. No good helmets, no good pads, no safety. You got to face the ball coming straight to your head at 145 km/hr. Now, they've safety helmets, good safety. Cricket has changed a lot.
