Peninsula at 8:57 is called Noordzeeweg. Great ship spotting spot. Police visit there periodically in case of motorhomes camping there. Used to be a cafe there years back. Great views, can get a car ferry back to near Hoek ferry port, saves driving all way around port. Also a visitor centre on new port development on other side of port. Can do boat tours of container port, well worth it. Some passenger ferries around port, bike friendly, can bike around the publicly accessible areas. Or drive round instead.

Wow, things have certainly changed since the 60's when I used to travel this route on the ''Avalon'' and our cars were loaded on by crane.

Boat is a monster (largest in the world) & have had the pleasure of crossing countless times over the yrs. Food is outstanding though it isn't as varied as it used to be, grog overpriced. The traditional service used to be great not now; on the arrogant side the Philippino hosts I find send you around-the-houses & get a kick out of it when asked simply onboard questions. Other than that it's a great journey especially with children. It's also a relaxing journey when their arn't many passengers. Hook of Holland is worthy of a night over. Nice tiny cafes/pubs & very friendly locals.
