Here in New Zealand, I used to work at the Debt Unit of Work and Income (the social services agency in this country) and honestly, whilst working there, whilst management and many of the collections officers during the team meeting said that they "care" about the clients, or that we're suppose to "empathize" with the clients, in truth, they couldn't give a F-CK- about them. I mean, these collections officers and case managers would smile as they talked to clients, say nice words, act all sweet and polite, but in candor, they were lying to these clients straight to their face (the clients knew they were being lied to, the COs & CMs knew that the clients knew that they were being lied to but the COs & CMs kept lying anyway), threatening them, with wage deductions or bank deductions, and they did all this whilst keeping a fake smile on their face, with an "aww, woe is you" tone in their voice, in an almost mocking manner. All these collections officers at W&I wanted was to collect money from poor and desperate people, whilst putting on a fake smile, soft voice and saying nice words, all to make the ministry look good. Nevermind that many of these clients were people like single mums living in their car, suicidal people who were depressed, abused kids who were kicked out of foster care after they turned 21, etc. These so called public servants I worked with are truth be told just lying, somewhat sociopathic, career climbers who put on a fake smile, say nice words, as they do it. I took a job with Work and Income because I genuinely wanted to help people but after a year of working there, I realized that they cbf helping anyone and just wanted to harass clients to collect money, and surpass their KPIs. Whilst working there, I was earning up to $75,000+ per year but I hated it so much that I actually quit and took a publishing/research job that only paid $68,000 per year but at least I didn't have to be fake or B.S. anyone. Jacinda is the embodiment of these fake, career climbing, so called, public servants. PS: I have met real & genuine public servants and case managers both here in NZ and in the USA (where my husband is from) who were blunt, crass, straight to the point and somewhat rude, but they did genuinely care about their clients, would go out of their way to help people and did tell the clients exactly what to do to get the help they need. They just didn't do it with a fake smile on their face or say nice words.

The extent to which she is manipulating the media is exceptional. I saw the protest and it was super peaceful, more like hippie festival than a political protest. There was a lot of people who had lost their jobs and a lot of small business owners too. Relations with the police was cool too, until of course she rotates them and brings them in heavy at 3 am or the like. And yet, the idiot box (6pm news) and youtube (comments turned off) she pushes the perception that they were violent unemployed criminals, sex offenders and the like. Makes my blood boil. She really needs her arse kicked, sent to her bedroom to think it over before returning to apologies', but of course that's not currently happening.

My interest in politics although being reasonably informed, has been one of casual observation. At a glance, Ardern, Trudeau and Macron appear to represent a more modern and liberal personae that possibly reflects the views of younger working people.
