I love watching your son ride and your instruction is always wonderful. The chestnut seems spooky and tight in the neck. Would lunging or handwork in this arena beforehand allow for the horse to relax a bit and give an even better performance? No criticism, as I said it is a joy to watch the amazing horses you bring along.

I’m not a showjumper so I don’t necessarily know a crap ton about riding one but with all of my horses, I took 30 minutes at the beginning of each ride to walk, trot, canter each direction and get a feel for the surroundings. At the trot I did a lot of loosening of the reins and allowing the horse to stretch out and down and bend before picking them back up and trying to put them together. With all the horses that I’ve ridden, if you take them straight out and try to frame them, they get tense, nervous and excited.

Would like to see the son ride the 2nd horse if there would be any difference.

Home bred by Billy Congo, out of a mare that never jumped (but Michael jumped it's grandmother to grand prix) 😊

Don't think the 2nd horse liked the bit or how it felt by the rider.

thats how you school a young horse with basic flatwork in place
