These "Jack goes to the railroad station" segments with the "Anaheim, Azusa, and Cucamonga" announcements were a staple of the radio series, done at least once a year since 1945. Here's a rare example of it being done on TV. A filmed version of this script was done on 3/28/58, with Louis Nye taking over the part of the crying cab driver, played here by Mel Blanc. Also features Sheldon Leonard as the Race Track Tout.
SCHEDULING NOTE: Weekday posts for April and May 2018 will be devoted to posting all available episodes of the Jack Benny TV Show that are NOT part of the syndication package of 100 filmed episodes. Most of these are live shows-- nearly always better than the filmed counterparts, even when the scripts were repeated nearly verbatim. There are also a good number of filmed episodes that have been circulating among collectors, but have never been rerun on TV. Some, certainly not all, have been widely available on KZfaq in varying degrees of quality. My goal here is to present ALL these videos in one organized place, with accurate program information and in the best video quality possible (I often had many versions to choose from, and often did significant a/v cleanup on shows that needed it.)
