A great set up for Jack Benny and a Texaco Gas commercial on his network show. If you know the date of the show let me know. Watch more commercials at TVDAYS.com #Texaco #JackBenny #tvdays #iragallen

It's a crying shame how Jack Benny is mostly unknown today. He was a real comedic genius in his reactions and timing, and his writers were the best in the business at the time.

He has a very active fan community on Facebook.

Jack always made sure he had black actors/actresses in his shows. A man truly ahead of his time.

I remember his arrival at an Eleanor Roosevelt charity drive when he asked her if she had change for a dollar.

I used to watch the Jack Benny Show reruns when I was about 10 or so. I always liked his exasperated "Can you believe this?" look at the 4th wall. His reactions to Mel Blanc's "Si, Sy, Sue" bit were hilarious!

This was or 1964 or 1965. NBC was the color broadcast pioneer and Benny's show was on NBC those two years (Benny was on CBS in black and white up to 1963). I was a little kid and would sneak out of bed and into the tv room to watch this show. Jack Benny is probably my favorite comedian of all time. Fun fact Lucille Ball was one of his best friends.

Something I'd learned only thanks to KZfaq: He was also a brilliant violinist. Like with Henny Youngman, their violins weren't just props.

Jack's not being cheap. That's all that any of us can afford for gas nowadays.

Let us remember that when Benny signed a new contract, Eddie Rochester HAD to be in on the deal or all bets were off. Eddie played the straight man in their comedy duos.

1 gal. that sounds about right with todays prices.

Jack would have taken maybe one-half gallon--lol! Or does this refer to one girl (another lol)?

I've never understood why anybody, of any party, singles out any American president, of any party, to blame or credit for the price of gasoline or the rate of taxes. It's like some strange lack of understanding of economics and the Constitution.

It's like they don't know about the free market and capitalism. Greedyness by the oil companies is also a big part of the problem too.

You don't understand it, because you don't understand how economics works. Elections have consequences. And overturned elections, including through systemic fraud, combined with electronic fraud, have even worse consequences overall. As we're seeing right now with the loser of the 2020 election having been installed by our nations domestic enemies in the Trump White House.

@smadaf Perhaps because an American president’s policies and personnel will either stifle or encourage economic growth? (After all, if Biden blames Putin for our inflation, I think Biden has earned the right to be blamed himself.)

@@albear972 Companies exist in a world marketplace, and everything is affected by supply chain issues, increasing labor costs, a surge in demand as COVID rates decline, and political policies restricting oil development. The rapid increase in prices isn't solely due to greedy CEOs.
