Rockpalast-Nacht sah. Unverstellt, direkt, in voller Länge. 1981 waren The Who im Line-up der 8.
Oktober live on stage veranstalteten.

David Sancious is playing a Carl Thompson double neck guitar on 'Out To Lunch' and 'NSU' 31:14. It was built in 1977 and is the only double neck guitar Mr. Thompson has ever made. Truly a priceless, one of a kind instrument.

I was glued to the screen to this when they broadcast it on Danish (or maybe Swedish) TV a year later, circa 1981 - ten years old and loved it to bits, now so much older and loving it even more. Thank you, WDR, this is an amazing flashback, and sounds a ton better than the HF signal we had then for sure, hehe.

Great stuff. I was, and am, a big fan of Cream -- but I always thought that it was "unjust" that Clapton was the one who went on to mega-stardom while Bruce and Baker had brilliant careers but were somewhat obscure to the general public. There ain't no justice!

Saw that live on the TV back then. A bit of a hard job for Jack to come on stage after a brilliant performance by Police. And Police obviously the act most of the audience looked forward to hearing. Then playing a bunch of unreleased songs and for the first and last time having two backing vocalists that didn't seem too well prepared or enthusiastic.. But the talent on stage was undeniable even if it was not really a highlight in Jack's career . Anyway even a slightly disappointing performance by Jack Bruce, Billy Cobham, Sancious and Clem Clempson is better than most of what is otherwise around.
