To commemorate Jazz legend Jack DeJohnette's 75th birthday, SABIAN is proud to announce a limited edition HHX Shimmering '75' Ride. Triple-hammered - with a heavily hammered bell - and buffed for shimmer and glassiness, the Shimmering '75' was designed to Jack's exacting specification for a controlled, musical ride, with great warmth and ample shimmer. Medium in weight, the tone is rich, the stick is always articulate, and the bell is solid without ever being piercing. We can't think of a better way to celebrate this important musical milestone!

Mitch Mitchell was a huge influence on me and I always loved his old zildjians. They seems to combine jazz and rock rides in one. Was fortunate enough to buy #72 and it beautifully strikes that balance. It's very crashable too. I've used it with my 19 and 20 HHX Xplosions crashes and it fit right in to the mix. If you find one for sale, just buy it. I'll never sell mine.

I've been actually taking my set to a field for practice almost everyday now thats hidden by trees to keep the sound nice and compressed. Its just a surreal way to play. Especially for jazz orientated music.

Looks like old aged K, just a little more bright and clean, very balanced, expressive (but not too much to be uncontrolable, chaotic, trashy, etc.), articulate and versatile (good in all touches and purposes: a cymbal that you can almost played alone with a hi-hat: very rare quality). Good job. You can expect that from Jack.

His description for this ride sounds identical to the Mike Johnston meinl promo video for his transition ride. Same description for the ride except this doesn't mention anything about crashability like Mike did with his transition but the description reminded me of the transition ride right away b
