See but Eichel was the man that the announcers say "Could do it all, but is just sick and tired of losing." He deserves a tribute, Eichel didn't leave Buffalo because he wanted to win more games or have a playoff run. He wanted to go to a team that would let him get the surgery he wanted so he could do what he loved doing again. People have no idea about the bond Eichel had with Buffalo, he's mad about Sabres fans because he still loves all of them. He's done so much for them. But he was most likely more confused that people really turned their backs on him. If Stone or Pacioretty left VGK, I wouldn't hate them. I love Flower, he got traded in return for nothing. Eichel is a phenomenal player and he did so much in Buffalo, he just wanted to play hockey again. And if that meant leaving the Sabres, he would do it. Sabres fans were very unprofessional during a tribute. 2015-2021 Eichel led Buffalo. And Buffalo didn't cherish him, but now that he's gone they realize how crucial he was. I hope the Sabres win and I hope the Knights win. I just hope the fans can see that he's human too and he loves the Sabres, he just wanted to play hockey again which Buffalo didn't let him do.

I love how 90% of the fans in this comment section have no idea what they are talking about because they haven't watched 1 Sabres game since the 2015 season when Eichel was selected. None of you know what Sabres fans have been through over the years with this guy. Its hilarious that all you think we are booing because of the neck surgery..... When in reality it has everything to do with his negative attitude, lack of leadership, quitting on his franchise, asking for a trade, throwing temper tantrums, half hearted plays most nights and finally forcing his way out of buffalo and bad mouthing a city and the organization publicly. All I can say is I hope Vegas wins with him or you'll learn the same lesson.

I used to have sabers season tickets about 10 years ago i still remeber sabertooth coming and hugging me when i was like 4 then he put my dad in a fake chokehold amd started feeding him cuz he was in a flyers jersey (im sadly a flyers fan rn too)

Here are the mixed emotions from the Sabres: sad that Jack is not there and angry at management that Jack was denied the care he needs.

Jack Eichel's a coward who gave up on this team. Almost any move he wanted they made yet he wanted out after just four seasons instead of sticking around like Connor McDavid or any other Captain despite everything. The opposite of a Captain. The owners suck too and he should've had his choice on the surgery but let's not pretend like he wasn't already wanting out years before his neck injury after just a few bad seasons. He sunk this franchise. If he did what he did in 2020 or 2021 then I would understand but that wasn't the case.
