Yes disease of any kind makes one wonder about why, but try to remember that man has polluted not only the animals environments, it is polluting us! Greed and power are at the base of this nightmare, has nothing to do with God. Human kind was given free will, it can definitely work to our detriment.

We have polluted our environment with so many manmade chemicals that the system is breaking down and we are developing more and more disease. Yes it is very sad that materialistic pursuits can create such a nightmare, but the only blame is on ourselves, we were given freewill.

I watched Jack Hanna's show on TV... and it was apparent to anybody that watched his show,, the true love he had for animals.. I also noticed, how he treated his wife on TV.. A Gentle Touch,, or a loving look,, it was all there!!! I think his loving wife was a reason he was so successful!!! Jack and Susie you have my blessings.. God bless!!!

It's hard to imagine him in the grip of this horrible disease. I always enjoyed watching him banter with talk show hosts with his humor, wit and knowledge. He was always one of my favorite guests. God bless him and his beautiful family. ❤

Several years ago, my 12 yr old son and I had the opportunity to meet Jack Hanna in person. As I was going to take a picture of Jack and my son, Jack turned my son around to face the camera. I was having a little difficulty with my camera. Jack patiently stood by my son until I could finally take the shot. What a kind man.

I am from Columbus, Ohio. We were at a parade back in the 1980s. Dana Rinehart was the mayor and Jack Hanna was director of the Columbus Zoo. Dana Rinehart went by in his car and no one even paid attention. He was waving away and no one cared. Then later, Jack Hanna went by in his car and the entire crowds went wild: clapping, screaming, whistling. Jack Hanna had a great presence in Columbus and everyone loved him. Seeing him in decline is heartbreaking.

Jack Hannah was the real deal. No pretense or anything else that success often brings with it. He was a very skilled narrator, teacher, animal conservationist, and, very comfortable in front of the camera. His knowledge of the various species of almost every form of wildlife made it a joy to listen to him as he traversed the globe. I never heard of any scandal and unethical behavior in his life. He is a credit to our species of mankind. May his beloved wife and children continue to surround and support him during this difficult and tragic time in his life. May God bless him and his family during this most difficult and sad time. My beloved father had this exact disease during the last few years of his life. He was a 30 year Air Force officer and was helping others for most of his life. May he RIP. I am going to be keeping Jack Hannah and his wife and children in my thoughts and prayers. 🦍❤️🤠🦓🦝🐺🐻🐯🦁🐼🦬🦘🦧 and so many more of the best wildlife adventures in the many episodes of the Jack Hannah television show.

Beth. I too went through same thing. My Mom had Alzheimer's also and she passed away on 12/31/92. My Uncle showed up at my job and we went somewhere when I was told what had happened. It is very hard to watch them forget things and having one of us there to keep an eye on her. 3 sisters and 2 brothers helped out. Pretty much by the summer of 93 I had to admit I needed professional help as well as my youngest sister. I was told to try and remember all the good things about Mom before she came down with this terrible condition. Always remember your dad for the great man he'll always be remembered for. Hang in there and God be with you always.

My heart goes out to his family. It crushed me when I heard of his diagnosis. I’ve never watched or followed anyone more than Jack. I’m an animal fanatic and have loved all of his appearances, tv shows, and safaris. Especially when he took his wife or daughter. I’ve learned so many interesting facts and he’s shown us so many creatures. His friendliness, sarcasm and personality were a delight. From a 60+ year old woman born in Columbus Ohio, Jack is still is very much in my heart. He has been such a great ambassador to all the animals. So many adults and children have learned so much from you. Truly, thank you, for all you have done to teach us and at the same time with humor sometimes. Thank you to the family who have been sharing his next journey through Alzheimer’s. I am so grateful he has such amazing people in his life taking care of him. Mr. Hanna was my first celebrity encounter. As a matter of fact, it may pre-date him being a well known individual outside of local notoriety. I am from Ohio and this was in the early 1980s. My family was visiting the Columbus Zoo and I, being a rambunctious kid, ran ahead of my parents and sister. I was not paying attention to what I was doing and I literally ran into him. I looked up and saw who I had just hit and was in awe. I had seen him in commercials and on various appearances on local news broadcasts. But here he was in real life. He smiled down at me and asked me how I was enjoying the zoo. I didn't know what to do, so I ran away from Jack and back to my parents.

❤❤We had to move from Columbus Ohio to West Virginia years ago. We needed a safe place to donated our pet raccoon. The Columbus Zoo was the perfect place. I will forever be grateful for Jack making this happen. They had a wonderful community habitat for Raccoons. We love you Jack! ❤️❤️

It is so heart breaking to see someone you love go from an intelligent vibrant person to someone who they them selves don't recognize. 6 years ago this month,my Dad left us Jack ,the people who love you remember as do all of your fans.Thank you. I remember laughing at Jack being chased by an emu in Australia.But they are dangerous.He made sure to let people know that.

I actually met Jack Hanna when I worked at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium when I was in college (I don't remember the year probably early 2000's). Very nice man. After all he's done for conservation and animals it's sad to see him this way. I wish there was someone ( in his family) to take his place - the world needs someone like him to teach others about wildlife and conservation.

It's a horrible disease. People can't imagine what it's like to watch someone forget how to use a toilet, tie their shoes, dip shrimp into cocktail sauce at a meal, cut up their own food, or hundreds of other simple things we take for granted. I watched a grown, very accomplished man deteriorate for 18 months. I was employed to be a day companion for him because his wife worked and was gone for 10 hours a day. It's sad. My heart goes out to his family. STEVE IRWIN AND JACK HANNAH WILL GO DOWN IN OUR HISTORY BOOKS, BOTH TREMENDOUS MEN. His was the most watched animal show in our home for decades.

We went to a live show. He called my auntbon stage and put a large roach on her shoulder. Made jokes. Said funny things to sue in the audience. And praised our town in montana as the most beautiful bike trails in all of america with the missouri river dams and waterfalls. ❤

My 77 year old mother has Alzheimer’s & has been in a nursing home for nearly 6 years. She still remembers who we are for now.

This is a great tribute to Jack Hannah. Ive been to the Columbus Zoo so many times. It is a wonderful place to go and soend the day. The animal exhibits are second to none. The atmosphere is exciting. The food is great. Jack Hannah took control of the Columbus Zoo in the early 1980's or late 1970's and turned it into a world class organization. I never got to meet the man, but i can clearly see his attention to detail, education, and enjoyment everywhere. I only wish that he and his family did not have to go through this HORRIBLE battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Alzheimer's is cruel and inhumane. It spares nobody. I lost my Grandma Woodham to Alzheimer's on July 24, 1997. Every time i saw her the last few years, she must've thought she was meeting me for the first time. It broke my heart then and it breaks my heart now. Lets find a cure for this abomination.

He was so kind to send me an autographed copy of his book "Monkeys on the Interstate." He's given so much to wildlife conservation over the years! I'm so sad that he's suffering from Alzheimer's. My mom had it as well.

I saw a TV episode a few years ago and it was evident that he was in the early stages. The diagnosis just had been revealed. So sad.

Very few people have been as much a champion for wildlife as Jack Hanna. Not only was he engaging and knowledgeable about animals, but he could be absolutely hilarious when he wanted to be. In one of his appearances on Maury he was talking about a penguin species that was monogamous, as it had one mate for life. Jack told Maury something to the effect of: Maury, I think that a lot of your guests on the show could learn from this penguin. Lol

It is really sad to see this man, who I grew up watching on tv, showing us animals from around the world. Used to handle wild tigers, with great care, and ease, now in such decline.

I know firsthand about Alzheimer. I and my brother took care of my Dad who had it. It’s a hard disease to cope with and understand. I’m glad the Hanna family is sharing their experience with this debilitating disease with the world. It helps people to understand more of what is involved and it helps those that are dealing with the same experience. Thank you for sharing! 👏❤️🥰
