Jack Nicholson Rare Public Appearance And Says "No" When Asked If He's Working On Any New Movies

After Jack Nicholson was photographed on his balcony at home in Los Angeles (is that allowed? I don't think even we would have published that) after reportedly not being seen in 18 months we thought wait a minute...when was the last time we saw Jack Nicholson?
After looking in our archives, turns out we have a video from 2016 in what is now a rare public appearance where the three time Oscar winner signed autographs for collectors. He didn't answer a question about skiing (?) but then he was asked; "You working on any new movies Jack?". He looks up for a second thinking and answers "NO."
In fact, Jack hasn't filmed anything since 2010 where he starred in a comedy titled "How Do You KNow"...BUT it looks like he has signed up for Stanley Kubricks never-made film Napoleon...directed by Kubrick's colleague and friend Steven Spielberg. The HBO production will reportedly be a seven-part tv series...so I guess Jack still hasn't plans for any "movies".

Not saying he "lost his mind", but this video is from 7 years ago. A lot could happen to anyone in that time. From a man, who has stated in the past he isn't ready to retire from films, suddenly just becomes silent can be easily construed as him not as coherent as he used to be. Nothing wrong with that being the age he is. But let's not pretend, there may not be mental or phyiscal issues at this point.

If you think about it, every role Nicholson has ever played is simply some variation of Jack. Jack being Jack and making a stack. He's not an actor. Jack is a "persona." Don't get me wrong. I love most of his movies. "As Good As It Gets" is probably my all time favorite film. His "persona" is probably the most beloved and sought after in Hollywood. Sad day when the likes of Clint Eastwood, Jack Nicholson, Sam Elliott, etc. (all personas in my book) pass from this world.

It really annoys me hearing the media say he is a recluse and this is a rare appearance, like he can just walk down the street like a normal human being or something. Why would Jack pursue any more motion pictures? He's the most accomplished actor in terms of Academy Awards. He's already done it all - and he's just enjoying his life at this stage. Glad to see he made time for everyone.

Jack is a true treasure. A great actor and a great human being. I think my favorite movie of his is "As Good As It Gets". Both he and Hellen Hunt won Oscars for their performances in that movie. I also know how much Jack loves the Lakers he came to a playoff game this year, his first one in almost two years.

In my opinion Jack has done it all. He doesn't need to prove anything any more and he comes from an era in Hollywood when studios and directors took risks when making movies and weren't afraid of offending anyone as opposed to the movie industry today and the films they are making which are very vanilla and not edgy like they used to be. I will say that he looks good for a guy in his mid 80s.

As a kid, I was as avid an autograph-seeker as they came! Only as I grew older did I see the childishness and arrested development motivation behind it. To fawn and plead for another adults signature speaks volumes about a person's emotional development!

I’m surprised how calm he is. I’ve heard he can be a bit abrasive in real life but here he seems pleasant enough and happy to talk to fans. Either way he’s my second favorite actor after Dustin Hoffman he is amazing in everything.

Let's keep things in perspective, this is from 2016, so his mental capacity in the last seven years could have changed. The fact is; he bowed out before anything was detected, so we have to respect his wishes and hope for the best. But let's not pretend nothing physically or mentally could be different by this time. Any reports of him in the last few years, can definitely be relevant to his competency at the moment.

I’ve never understood people pestering or obsessing over other people like this or asking for autographs. People like Jack Nicholson have the same value as anyone else in the world, and those lines you’re asking them to squiggle are just ink on a piece of paper. Just let people be. I’d absolutely feel like lashing out if I had people following me around every day, asking for me to write my name on pieces of paper, or were saying stupid things to me trying to get a reaction for a video and make me look bad.

I would treat them like any other human being. Have a normal conversation, but respect their right to privacy. The problem is that people think they ‘know’ the actor, because they have seen so much of them on the screen, so act in a way which is more familiar.

thats perhaps why youre not an actor. actors love attention, socializing etc. ofc some of them become bitter old gramps but they should remember that adoration is why they have anything in the first place. yeah paparazzis who come ring doorbells or camp behind door waiting for chance to get bedroom pictures are different

@@kallemetsahalme5701 I’d agree with you for younger actors today. But not most middle age to older ones. And I think that’s a big problem with actors and musicians today. They don’t do it anymore because they actually love to act or write and perform music. Thru do is purely because they just want to be famous. And it shows in their work. I used to go to 1-2 movies a WEEK, and be interested in a lot of new music. But in the past 5-10 years I’ve only been to 4-5 movies in them theaters period. And even movies I rent at home I regret after. And music? Wow does that hurt. I’d go through say top 10 lists on iTunes or listen to bands perform on late night shows or SNL, and discover new groups I really liked. But today? Wow. I can’t even sit through the entire song or perform it’s so weird or awful. I listen to more music from the early 2000’s, 90’s, 80’s, or even before that over new stuff today. And I’m open minded and give things a chance today, but man does it suck, and people’s motivation it messed up in doing it. Not for the artistry or craft, but just for the fame.

Acting is a "public" profession and it's part of the package deal to make appearances, and spend the rest of your life with people gawking at you. If he was an accountant, he'd have the right to get pissed off and scare people away. I, myself, am to private a person to ever become an actor. My best to Jack.
