This movie has stuck with me every day since I saw it last week. I see a lot of Tom Hardy from Bronson in this movie and a lot of Tom Hardy in Jack O"Connell. Jack, like Tom, can say a million things with just his expression and his eyes. Not many can do that. He has amazing emotional range and mad talent. Huge things to come from this gorgeous slice of British man, and I look forward to seeing it. Now to go on a Jack O'Connell film binge and watch everything I can get my hands on on this side of the pond.

Mari Wasp oh my gosh!!! Cook!!!! One of my favorite characters of all the time. Phenomenal acting! Nothing can beat the very end of the third season when he gets the guy that killed Freddie! Skins is a favorite and I am 41 lol. Just rented starred up. Because he was in it! So excited and the accent is so strong I can’t understand a word!! Ugghhh... I’m so frustrated... they say the movie is great but wtf. Skins wasn’t hard to understand!! Geez

he says it's a genre film but I think it turned out to be more of a character study, couple of good twists involving the characters which made me really think about who these people were and how the kid became the way he is. Jack O'Connell is always brilliant in everything I've seen him in and he's terrific in this, probably his best work. He seems quite method in this and uses the environment to his advantage. What I hate is that none of the other actors are mentioned much, it's very much a team effort, the guys from the group are absolutely brilliant as well and very focussed. The group scenes were my favourite. Rupert Friend is terrific as well, he appears terrified of these guys but he always stands between them while they work their own problems out. Each character is very rounded out and you feel sympathy for even the hardest men in the film. Good job!!!! :)

Jack O'Connell is incredibly talented. He has done some amazing performances since.. Unbroken, Godless, The North Water, SAS Rogue Heroes. First saw him in Eden Lake, didn't realise it was him but God his character was unnerving. I remember seeing Tom Hardy at the beginning of his career and wanting him to go far, same for Jack O'Connell. I'm sure he will have an amazing career too. Looking forward to seeing what he can do.

What a film. I don't usually like prison films - too much revelling in the sadism and machismo, in my opinion, but this is different. It's about damaged humans, the violence is secondary. The way Jack and Ben play two absolute nutters who are also extremely sensitive, damaged, sad men, struggling with what to do with their pent-up rage and hurt (with some very vulnerable moments) must be incredibly difficult to convey, but they do a beautiful job. I can't imagine many actors being able to do that. It's a cliché but they bring humanity to those characters.
