Cruise would have made a really short Batman! The emphasis on the thumb is that people that do a lot of shooting get grains of gun powder lodged in their nails, specifically the thumb. They weren't injured just used for comparison to show that both were frequenting a gun range and probably together. Kudos on making most of the connections and most don't pay enough attention to realize the guy at the beginning wasn't Barr!

The author of all the Reacher novels was fornally empoyeed by a BBC show that was canceled. One day while his wife and he were grocery shopping a little old lady asked him if he would reach her down an item on the top shelf. Lee Child's wife remarked that he could always get a job as a grocery store reacher. That's how REACHER got his name. Tom Cruse , while being a good actor, was wholely inadequate for this role.

A criminally underrated movie. I think most people thought of it as "Just Another Tom Cruise Flick", while fans of the source material were upset that Tom Cruise was even cast as Reacher. After learning more about Reacher and with the popularity of the series, I can understand the fans particular dissatisfaction. Alan Ritchson IS Jack Reacher. All that aside, this is a very well directed crime mystery with some beautiful location shooting, tight action, a solid score, and absolute stellar performances from all the actors and actresses involved.

Question: When Reacher went into Jeb's house there was a movie playing on the TV. What movie was playing? Answer: You can identify the movie by the voice of one of the stars who was also famous for recording the song "A Holly Jolly Christmas" & "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer", i.e., Burl Ives. The movie was "The Big Country" starring Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, Charlton Heston, Carroll Baker, Chuck Connors, & Burl Ives. It's a super western, you should watch it for a reaction.

I'm glad you both enjoyed this movie, many people weren't too happy with Tom Cruise's portrayal of the character Jack Reacher. In the book series Jack Reacher is described as being 6 foot 5 inches tall, and weighs roughly 230 pounds of mostly muscle. Even though Tom Cruise didn't fit the description of the character, I still think he did a good job playing him. One of the many characteristics of Jack Reacher that I like, is because of his military training. He is able to notice details that many would skip over, he knows how to connect the dots.

Hey ladies, you're the first to react to this film. Jack Reacher is one of the most hardcore detective characters ever. I like his style and that he's a living weapon. The first-ever collab of Tom Cruise and Oscar-winning filmmaker, Christopher Mcquarrie (screewriter of The Usual Suspects). Mcquarrie wrote Edge of Tomorrow, wrote and directed 5 of the Mission Impossible films. The basis for the movie is the 9th novel (One Shot, 2005). Everybody complained about the look and size of Cruise because the character doesn’t look like that at all. But it made no matter to me because it was all about the character in his plight and determination. Cruise as dedicated as he is delivered on who Reacher was, mind and body. Good cast here especially Robert Duvall (Cash) because he worked with Cruise on Days of Thunder (1990). Mcquarrie's screenplay for the most part reads like the Reacher novels with the suspense, action and plenty of reveals behind the culprits of the criminal act. The Jack Reacher sequel, Never Go Back (2016) is pretty good too. In both films, Lee Child (author/creator of Jack Reacher) cameos as an police officer at a desk.

She obtained her first agent at the age of 11 and starred in her first feature film, Fido (2006), at 13. I mentioned this because many films always have someone who flies below the radar. Also, of worthy mention is Jai Courtney who plays Charlie, the bad dude. You might recognize him as Kyle Reese in the Terminator - Genisys (2015). There are plenty of other accomplished actors and actresses here who have done well also. Oh yeah, Tom Cruise is in this too. 😎

Also if you haven't seen it yet I watched the first two season of the show on Amazon Prime, 'Reacher' starring Alan Ritchson and it's a pretty good. This movie launched the "Reacher" franchise, and they did an exceptional job. Only Cruise and his "Mission Impossible" film crew could have done this. Nitpicking Cruise's size compared to the guy in the books is unfair in my opinion.

I think @ 38:33 with the Detective standing next to the bus as it pulls away with Reacher plainly visible. He should have looked up into the bus"s window into the seating area just behind Reacher and was a moment to late to see him. A missed opportunity to have some humor . Also when Reacher stalled the engine crashing backwards into the barrels during the chase was not in the script. the Director loved it for adding some unintended suspense and kept it in.

Old cars had carburetors that would flood out under extreme driving situations. It would take a minute to clear out. TC/JR should have floored the pedal, not pumping it, just makes things worse, but it fit the movie well.

Tom Cruise is one of the last true movie STARS. His acting is this movie was top notch, he made me forget that the character of Reacher is a much bigger man. If you happen to watch the Amazon series starring Alan Richson you would get a better understanding of some of the dialog from the movie. For example, in the mochi tree when the cops go looking for a man that could kill a woman with one punch.

@ColinPoole
@ColinPoole Ай бұрын
Violence accomplishes an objective but normally the objective is a bad one. Violence to assume power is not done by good people and so if you see someone using violence because it works you already know the mission itself is corrupt. Movies like this create the delusion in people because it shows one made-up example of violence being used for good and if the viewer is easily influenced they begin to be drawn to violence as a solution because they have these fake examples of how it worked for good. In reality they get drawn to evil people who are the only ones in real life that will resort to violence as a solution. It is the beginning of dictatorial rule. Leave violence worship to the movies but continue to discourage it in real life. You saying that a made up example of violence being the right answer contributes in ANY way to your impression of violence in real life is showing you can be influenced by fantasy.

Jack Reacher is a fan of coffee, not a connoisseur - mind you, but he needs to enjoy his coffee and he hates when it's bad, or cold, or served in a wrong vessel. Coffee is very important to the character, there's a few books centered around him (trying to be) enjoying his coffee... Thanks for the coffee carries here more weight than than - say - in Friends. I'd say it's as important as in Gilmore Girls,, just that Jack can function well without one.

They must have been filming a sequel to The wizard of Oz nearby because all those people in the bar with Tom Cruise walking through a whole head higher than all of them they must have been a whole group of munchkins or dwarfs or little people. Either that or he was walking on a beam so he could be taller than everyone in the bar!! When I realized he was a head higher than everyone else I started laughing the first time I saw this movie. Despite that one point it really was a pretty good movie and the sequels not bad.

@RuntotheMovies Off the top of my head: Everyone reacts to the clint eastwood westerns, but nobody reacts to the audie murphy westerns, like "no name on the bullet", "ride a crooked trail", or "destry". Also, almost nobody reacts to the british royalty period dramas, like "a man for all seasons" (1966), "lady jane", "the virgin queen" (2005 miniseries), or the starz serieses "the white queen", "the white princess", and "the spanish princess". I think only 1 person has reacted to "the lion in winter" (1968). Of the 4 main tom clancy movies (not counting the new ones), everyone reacts to "the hunt for red october", and a handful have reacted to "patriot games" and "clear and present danger". But nobody has reacted to "the sum of all fears". One person has recently reacted to "munich", and two channels have recently reacted to "all the president's men". Nobody has reacted to "pirates of silicon valley", an excellent drama about the birth of microsoft and apple. There are only a few youtube reactions to "the fiddler on the roof", perhaps more on patreon, but i think that might be complicated by copyright issues with the songs. There is only one reaction to "dr zhivago", and no reactions to "far from the madding crowd" (1967) or "tess" (1969), as far as i know. There are only 2 reactions to "a bridge too far", and no reactions to "theirs is the glory" (1946), which used the people who were there instead of professional actors. Everybody reacts to "the hunt for red october" and "crimson tide", but nobody reacts to "hostile waters". It has the advantage of being a true story, though its portrayal of the navy is otherwise less accurate than "red october". I think only one channel has reacted to "courage under fire". Edit: there has been only 1 reaction to clint eastwood's "the beguiled" (1971), not counting non-reaction reviews/discussions. Edit: nobody has reacted to "the family tree" (2011) comedy. Edit: i don't think anyone has reacted to "the kent chronicles" (1978-1979 miniseries, with 3 parts). Edit: nobody has done a proper reaction to "the mentalist" series. Somebody started, but only did the first several episodes. A few others have done discussion/rewatches of specific parts. But no proper first time reaction to the series as a whole.
