I love Reacher, but the acting from the prisoner in this scene is also impeccable. It's harder than you think acting that evil, especially if you're an unknown actor for a small role. People are always gonna associate you with that role.

I guess I agree with your first point, that it may be difficult to act to be truly evil. But what does being an unknown actor in a small role have to do with the difficulty? And why does it matter or not if people always associate you with that role. You've stated a bunch of disparate points and I don't understand how they all fit together.

I think what I love about his fighting style is that it is in fact not really "with style". Or rather, not with class. He is not deflecting or protecting himself like usual "heroes" fight. If he is unleashed, it is a very cold, brutal and direct. He is not disarming your knife, he will literally 'disarm' you

As an ex-prison officer I can tell you that sentenced inmate jails are much safer and less violent than remand centres..these guys know they are saying their for life and its kinda home for them..where as in remand centre people are fresh off the street, coming of drugs and every knew kid wanna prove himself..so I always smirk at this scene.

You left out the part about how lifers can be really dangerous and could shank you for the slightest disrespect. Because when you're never getting out, wtf do you have to lose? Who cares about extra years when they don't affect your overriding sentence. Like some guy once said, I've got to die 6 more times before I get out of here.

@yourdaddy6030 ..mate, disrespect rule applies everywhere regardless of your status.. and yes exceptions are everywhere.. I didn't say that sentenced prisons are safe, but they are generally less violent than remand centres. Ask anyone who has worked in prisons, and you will get the same answer.

Come to think about it, Having martial arts training & tactics is very useful serving Prison Time. You have a much better chance of surviving & defending yourself against other dangerous Inmates. Being solitary, In which just being yourself & Not joining gangs in prison is also another way to survive your prison sentence.

@@yannickwillems8523 Which is why Reacher uses tactics to give himself every edge he can: Surprise and distraction. Using his environment as weapons. Going for crippling blows. That dude entered the cell expecting to get laid, and instead got laid out. Further proof that in life, you might get what you want, but end up not wanting what you get. When someone tells you what they are going to do to you, and they are 6’5 250, you should listen.

He didn't listen because he was white. The very first thing out of his mouth when he seen reacher was a racial slur. Most black men don't take white men serious in a fight. I'm not trying to sound racist, rude or ignorant in any way. I feel it's just a fact & this scene portrayed it pretty well.

@@Gameboy-Unboxings i don’t necessarily see it that way, but I respect your point. i think his arrogance is rooted more in the fact that he has his crew with him and thinks that will make a difference., and when he realizes Reacher is there he can’t back down or risk looking weak, so he has to front.
