He's getting older (Jack, not Evan) and talks a little slower, but man he's as sharp as he ever! May we all be as sharp at that age!!

What a legend, thank you for the story Mr Roush. these old cats (no pun intended) are disappearing and if we only knew half of what they have forgotten we can make some hellatious cars. And they built these motors and tuned these chassis without electronics without laptops and they will still run with all the new ones.

so glad i found and subscribed to your channel. I'm 61 and eat sleep breath FORD never owned anything else and never will ! I grew up about 1 1/2 mi from Detroit dragway was so close that i could hear the announcer but he sounded like Charlie Brown's teacher. think the first time I went was 1972 and was hooked for ever till 1996 when they closed. Always loved Jack, Glidden, Dyno Don. Sure wish FORDS could be in prostock now. My father and I both worked at DST which did a lot of race stuff including off road, Indy and cup but most well known for working on Thunderbolts. Love your videos !!!! keep Em Coming .

I met Jack at an aviation event many years ago. He can expertly talk about airplanes as much as cars. I loved this era of Pro Stock. That Mustang II is high tech for its time.

I recall a 1975 Motor Trend article on Jack and a Mustang II that was apparently built for “street.” The article quoted him as saying three guys who want to run use dual quads, but the guy who want to run fast stick with a single. 4V. I don’t remember if the car in the article had a 351 or a big block.

You know the old saying, liar's figure but figures don't lie. The Cleveland had an 8 degree valve angle, a big block Chevy 23. Ingition timing being negative work GM motors ran something like 42 or so degrees based on their design which effectively tries to stop the pistons upward travel. Long story long today's pro stock motors have a valve angle around 8 degree's. Roush was brilliant without question but the Cleveland was a way better design.
