I actually kind of like the fact that Jack was scared of Salazar. Because as he said in the third movie when Jones asked if he feared death, he said you have no idea.

@@somegeekyperson4645 Easy to answer - Jack was overly drunk thanks to depression and was scared of Salazar, so he was much less focused and nervous during the fight, that is why he prefered running away instead of facing him directly. And when he had to, he was very dogy and had problems to deflect Salazar's aggresivity

The most annoying thing about this film is that it disregards some things that were mentioned in the first trilogy. For an example, Callipso gave Jack the compass, but this film says otherwise

関強 actually calypso does mention it when she asks Jack about why the compass couldn’t lead him to Davy Jones’s key, she says ”the compass you got from me, it can’t lead you to this?”

Originally the compass was wielded by another pirate even before this movie (look it up on pirate wiki). Jack probably got the compass from his captain and then he lost it untill Tia Dalma gave it to him

There is something that makes Salazar's character interesting. Like all the other main characters, part of their Journey often have Jack in it. Unlike the rest, however, Salazar have a deep personal Connection with Jack. In the fact that, he blames Jack for taking everything away from him. Sure we have Davy Jones, but that is more on deed. Salazar's is more on revenge.

this movie had the potential to be great. It's a shame that the scenes with Jack (aside from the flashback one) were pretty bad and how they changed some of the lore. If they hadn't done that it probably could have been just as great as the original 3, because there's truly some great stuff in this movie, but a lot of it is unfortunately overshadowed by the negatives in my opinion.

I think that was actually a good touch. They showed that it's not them being bad at portraying Jack, just that as he gets older he takes less risks and is becoming more cautious. While it's not something I enjoy seeing, it unfortunately makes sense. Jack has lived through what is quite possibly the worst times for Pirates, and is more afraid now than ever before.

For Captain Barbosa, in those last moments of his life, his love for his Daughter sprang to the forefront! He no doubt loved her all of her life, and this proves it. Pirate or not, in my humble opinion, he died a hero to her!

This is not Jack Sparrow. His mannerisms, his witty one liners, his reckless appearing yet carefully planned combat style, they're all gone in this movie. I miss the old Jack Sparrow.

tbh this movie is pretty cool, its just because the support character is so uninteresting and the story is inconsistence now for those of whom want me to prove my own point : - Salazar is an interesting character, he is the dude that trying to take down pirate and protect the sea, he kill by the badass Jack Sparrow, he is on his way for revenge and still carries out his mission ( to hunt down pirate ), oh and Salazar is very polite so... there you go - the ghost ship concept is pretty cool - Barbossa last word now for what when wrong in this movie : - this is not jack Sparrow, this is just a guy that escape everything with pure luck - Dead man tell no tales huh ? how about you introduce yourself to the class salazar ? - don't put a new loving couple in the new POTC, people only care about Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann - Calypso is the one who give Jack the compass, let that sink in

They did way too much slow motion in this movie. Barbosa falling was just straight up corny. When Davy Jones died, you didn't see him slowly fall into the whirlpool, it was quick and realistic and had more impact.

I mean Salazar is the one thing good about this movie. Maybe Barbossa too? Though I find distracting that he doesn't speak Spanish with his crew, only a few words. It could have been cool to have it and then subtitle it.

Actual pirates usually ELECTED their captains, and served willingly - had laws, a code etc. If pirate captains messed around, they ended up replaced...or dead.

The key for salazar escape is that jack give away the compas. But Jack gives the compas to will on movie 3 so, why did salazar didn't escape ? Maybe they're still sleeping.

Because Jack didn't betray de compass. He gave the compas to Will, Because with de compass Will can find the fortress of the pirates in the end of the 3rd film. So Jack knew that the compass will be back to him. In the last film, he betray de compass, without knowing if he will have again his compass. He juste betray de compass for a drink. (I have bad english, excuse me, but I hope you understand my pov)

This is definitely not my favourite of the series. But one thing I find interesting especially about this clip, is that compared to other captains we seen on both sides of the fight, Salazar is a coward. Unlike the other to go down with their ship, When shit hits the fan jumps off the edge.

He's old, plus he had always been a coward (we fight, to run away). This was like what? 10 odd years after the 4th movie, and probably over 30 odd years from the first. Since Will's child was about 20 in this movie, it's safe to say that 20 odd years has passed since the 3rd movie. His prime (when he was still around 30 plus of age) was probably between the 1st and the 3rd movie. So maybe not that witty anymore with all that rum in him over the years. Not trying to speak up for this movie here, but this is just me logically speaking here of course (with heavy alcohol consumption over the years comes deteriorating body functions; especially the mind).

That fight on the cannons was pretty cool ngl, but when Salazar got the trident is was pathetic. Even if the trident had all the power of the sea, Jack is very skilled and it honestly would’ve been cooler if he was able to outplay Salazar like how he was able to outplay Davy Jones and Barbossa despite being physically weaker than them. Having it be a hopeless situation for Jack just seems so anticlimactic and boring.
