Jack Out The Back

Jack Out The Back

11 күн бұрын

In this video, I take you back to the severe drought of 2019, a year marked by only 35mm of rain and temperatures soaring up to 50 degrees. This critical animal welfare crisis forced me to take drastic measures to protect our cattle, including the heartbreaking task of euthanizing over 3000 camels.
Join me as I recount the challenges of using my rifles and the sheer physical toll of working in such extreme heat. This video is a testament to the hard work and dedication required to ensure our animals' welfare.
To those who think farmers don't care about their animals, I challenge you to experience these harsh conditions firsthand. The reality is far from easy. For those who understand, you know the sacrifices involved.
Don't forget to subscribe to my channel for more updates and footage from those tough days.

Jack is 100% right about how the heat absolutely drains you. The heat on its own is bad enough, but then to add intense physical activity, and lack of hydration, it’s more brutal than most people watching this will ever experience. If you’ve never experienced real heat stroke, where your piss is dark brown, and you’re constantly on the edge of greying out, you’ll never understand.

One trick you can do is get hold of the evaporative cooling jackets that are supplied as workwear garments. They don't do all that much but they do help a bit in the heat.

@@Wyrm1701 depends on humidity and how much water you want to carry with you. Also being constantly damp in hot conditions causes serious skin issues very quickly.

It beggars belief that the government ignores the truth about needing suitable weapons to defend your cattle against feral. Hopefully, social media may help this situation.

Sadly, most people have no idea what a hard slog it is being a farmer. We used to have a good number of polies, who came from the land. Now a days sadly no. You need to have the correct tools to do your job. Polies are just so woke theses days. They need to get real and look after the people and the country. Stay the course Jack. Best to the family.👍🇦🇺🙏

Thanks for this old footage. And happy to see the improvement of your equipment meanwhile. Totally speechless about the ignorance of your government... Such an unnecessary struggle just to be able to protect your farm and existence.

Thank you for showing this, Jack. This shows your recent past work in a different light. You've been dealing with camels for many more years than the recent videos (2024) have shown. It baffles me that when presented with this proof, the brains behind the eyes still refused to see for those who could make it easier for you to manage this situation.

Hey Jack, I have heard in the past on previous vids that you have mentioned about this footage and spoken in length that it wasn't pretty. Me personally, it should be shown, as it shows that you and other land custodians are underpowered to comply with the task that you have to manage the land you uphold. " Hears a cap gun !!!, that'll move them on " To pop a feral with 5 rounds isn't economical in any accountants books, " what ya need 7 to put that big boy down !!!" Phhffft . I just don't get the local and state Gov that are calling the shots on something they Have No REAL idea about, If they were genuine, they would be riding shotgun with you !!!, I put it to them !!! " Better get another hobby " clearly the bloke that said that will eat his words and his mate that supports it !!! Great Vid Jack, i'm going to bed now cos I'm pissed off, rant over !!! Cheers Andy 🍺🍺🍺

Hats off to you Jack for your professionalism, shooting ability, and general toughness in a rough situation. I was out recently and counted over 100 feral donkeys on a 5 mile stretch of road in the deserts of the Southwest US. Sadly, here they are federally protected and are allowed to savage water sources and damage native animal and plant populations totally unchecked. I can sympathize with governments not allowing hard-working people to do the jobs that need doing, but I'm sorry to see the state of affairs WA has left you in. Hopefully, you documenting this will one day lead to progress and change for you. Cheers from the States.

G'day Jack, looking at your reactions while presenting this 5-year-old footage is obvious and clear your deep frustration as a result, I've found sad and even disrespectful the way the WA government and some of its environmental entities treat someone like yourself with a clear, demonstrative and concurrent serious issue with feral camels mainly but also, feral donkeys and horses that have been going on for years and years. Despite your constant and fair calling to the SA government to approve the ownership and use of centrefire semi-automatics to assist you and possibly others in identical predicaments. Your ammunition should be highly discounted/subsidised and 1 or more semiauto 308's rifles should be made at your disposal until they are no longer necessary, this type of approach to the respective authorities should be considered from both parties, I'm certain Jack that a compromise of this nature could be presented as a solution to this problem. Is got to be a way...! Cheers George

We used have the same problems with needing to kull game ie the elephant problem, we have to many to sustain life for all and any ones species people don’t understand until it’s in their back door .. the smell of blood in the heat is awful and trying to kill quickly to stop animals suffering I’m so sorry you have to do this but you have to put your family first

I know what you mean about the smell of blood. Many years ago I ended up with just a little blood (my own, as it happened) on the steering wheel of my car and for months afterwards the stink got on my hands after driving. Wore off in the end but blood doesn't half pong!

Without doubt your government will have seen how the USA are using mini guns from helicopters and vehicles and even 50 cal machine guns on their unwanted species, over the top shooting but its getting the job done. So, would the issuing of a limited number of FAL cal rifles to farmers in Australia be a problem, "No it would not"

Jack do you think taking a 3 foot length of rebar bend a eye on one end for a strap to go through and make a sharp hook on the other to hook under the camels jaw for dragging them. Would that work better than tying them up with straps
