I have liked and commented! I continue to serve the jacked dungeoncast! Greeting again good lords of knowledge and laughter, it is always great to see you! I thank you for yet another helpful boon of knowledge, as we've been having a bit of an issue with jackalweres in the kingdom as of late. Ever since the slime outbreak, all manner of beast have been assaulting these lands to take advantage of our weakened state, including the jackalweres. I had not been able to slay them, but now that I know I need a silver weapon, it won't be long until they fall to this paladins wrath! . . .*scribbles note down* note to self, run by the silver mine later. Until next week milords, have a good day! Oh and I'll make sure to gift you a severed jackal head as an offering! Ah, got my fix again. Never gets old. Brian's slippers this episode made me think of the jojo character jotaro kujo, who's hat just sorta melds with his hair. I feel like if a jackalwere fell in love, it'd be the biggest tsundere ever, due to feeling pain at telling the truth. ITS NOT LIKE I LIKE YOU BAKA! Lastly I had a question, did your fundraiser for covid relief end up meeting the goal you set? I've been wondering about that.

Cantrips like Greenfire blade make your weapon attack count as magical.

Sometimes I'll have this on in the background, and an ad will be placed right after Brian makes a joke or reference, so I keep thinking the pause as the ad loads is an awkward silence as Will is completely derailed by the non-sequitur.

I like the idea of Jackalweres being Paranoia fuel, like Synths perhaps working (at least in the minds of the people) with Gnolls or Grazzit or some such to infiltrate and undermine rather than outright attacking. It could really have a distrustful feel were people don't trust strangers or even their closest friends for fear they've been replaced by a jackalwere. That kind of atmosphere could be very fun. These guys really should have a higher challenge rating because any low level party without proper gear is going to be wiped out by even one of these.

If i were to run them I would have them communicate to each other through animal sounds rather than actually speaking a language, thus avoiding the truth problem.

What this monster is related or origin wise is the ancient cynocepholy or dog headed men. Check out saint Christopher of the orthodox church to learn more about this lore. Even emperor diocletian had an edict to bring him back one as well as tales where Darius 3rd used against Alexander the great which then incorporated them in his armies as werewolf mercenaries.

Jackalwere are antherians, and antherians are immune to silver. They are not therianthropes. They are, however, killed by cold iron. Furthermore, jackalweres are jackals that are able to transform into humanoid and hybrid form, very similar to therianthropes, but without the curse.They are jackals that can turn into human or humanoid form or a hybrid of the two, as opposed to a human or humanoid that can transform into jackals or a hybrid of the two as you would find with a werejackal. Very similar but there are small differences.

It's amazing how much things change simply by switching two nouns; jackalwere vs werejackal. Werejackals are cursed, jackalweres are not. It gets even more interesting when you look at the lore between antherians and therians, and how there is this deep seated hatred for each other, even though there pretty much the same thing. Well, except for the whole curse thing. The other thing is antherians are killed by cold iron, whereas therians are killed by silver. Can you imagine you are out hunting werewolves with your silver weapons, then you come across a wolfwere and realize your silver is completely useless?

Before 4e or like 1-3ish, 4e and 5e are the big different lore changes. It's great and frustrating this is one of the monsters that I've never seen in a game but would be fun.

Do you ever have to speak the truth if you ask questions instead of making statements? Jackleweres should speak mostly in questions. That's what I use as a tell for them.

Brian don’t waste your time watching boruto! Not worth it! Just watch the movie, there’s like 30 episodes of boruto which literally just restate what happened in the movie but in a boring drawn out way
