As a new white belt that has been drilling being submitted for a while now, I can say that I'm way better at getting submitted than you are, Tyler. Jake Clark dropped into our gym once. I had no idea who he was. Rolled with him. I'm a white belt at the time. He let me work for about 10 seconds, then submitted me. Let me work ... submitted me. Jake is awesome and always has been. He wrestled varsity as a 7th grader and won the biggest high school wrestling tournament in the country that year. He was the youngest person to ever win that tourney at the time. He used to whip my butt everyday in practice when we were in the same weight class, and wrestling him like that made me the best I ever turned out to be, which was not all that good in comparison. The best thing about him is his personality, just a great and kind person who never had an ego like others of his caliber do.

To be fair, the guy wasn't really fighting with jiu jitsu. He was basically just wrestling. There was plenty of technique, but it was all wrestling energy, not BJJ. Wrestling is all about dominating the opponent and wadding them up in a ball until they quit. BJJ is the opposite. It's about moving an playing back and forth until I catch you or you catch me. It's super annoying to trying to roll with a wrestler, because it's usually just a stalemate. They generally are very good at takedowns and control, but not very good at submissions. It's always a treat having the Newb BJJ guy/ ex-wrestler trying to rape choke you from guard.

Do you mean, they disengage to defend against a bad position they are in to avoid giving you a chance for a submission? If so, I would imagine it is a good move to do that on the wrestlers part. @@artandarchitecture6399 NO, it isn't as most self defense situations do not justify the use of deadly force and you will be in a heap of trouble if you shoot someone. If you don't mind going to prison for several years while losing your life savings, your home, and your family...then yeah, a firearm is perfect.

I feel like this guys knees would be messed up but the opponents spine and neck would be snapped in 10 seconds on asphalt I don't train this stuff but these wrestling guys who seem to be able to just pick you up and throw you across the room seem scary af

@@gnq_k I used to be a bouncer and had to fight a wrestler late one night in a parking lot. He came at me but I tagged him several times on the way in, breaking his nose. He did manage to get a two leg take-down on me but I was able to get up and then beat him across the parking lot, dislocating his jaw. After that first take-down he didn't seem to have any defense when he was getting hit. It would be best to master all the skills but any kind of fight is an iffy situation at best. I'm older now and it's too late to learn anything new but I would add wrestling to the mix if I had to live this life over again.

@@CaneFu People are crazy & drunk trying to fight a bouncer, you're just doing your job lol. Glad you made it out okay. Wouldn't be a situation I'd want to be in for sure.

Jake is a great guy, invited me to his home, and helped me in my final year of Greco. He has the best arm drag I've ever seen. All technique too.

@@kommisar. Slap drags, and drag from the motorcycle grip. The thumbnail of this vid is literally him setting it up by sticking his hand out. He made me look dumb from it. Lol.
