Two of the greats, playing a couple of my favourite Polkas, which I love to play on harmonica.🤗🤗🤗🤗

Thanks for sharing. Great playing and now I know 2 more titles for tunes I've played for many years.

These are 2 tunes I also heard The Red Clay Ramblers do.

Besides the wonderful playing, I like the fact that they play it quite slowly - makes it even more fun!

Nice name Sullivan's for that first Polka and very familiar. Anyone have the words for the BRITCHES FULL OF STICHES? They are so masterful missing Seamus now RIP

'oh the britches full of stitches, oh the britches full of holes' are the only lyrics I know! Repeated until the end???

bill sullivan's polka you's find it on the session wesbite note how they change the placing (or take out) the "dots" in the A-part that would normally extend the note. gives it a great driving feel

What is the first tune? The session gives several Sullivan's and it doesn't look yer daddy's shirt!

I believe these tunes are SLIDEs and true to the Sliabh Luchra they are playing in the oclave great. Thanks for posting.

They're polkas in 2/4. Slides are typically in 12/8 with a rolling feel rather than the polka oompah

great tunes and playing. a dour looking bunch - musicians and players both.... They're playing the happiest music ever and they all look like their dogs just died. A note to some in the audience - don't sit and watch musicians with your arms crossed in front of yourself, it makes you look like a douchebag.

Edinstead - I presume you have never played this music - it's hard and requires concentration, not goofy looks or plastic smiles by the musicians. Your comment about the audience is also a bit judgmental. None of us can tell others how to enjoy music - it's personal! Just enjoy it your own way and let others do the same.

@@Irishpete hard music! I think your a little confused, it's a little ditty not a paganini. But I'm also left wondering why they all look so miserable, it looks like neither of them wanted to be there
@JohnHillEU2 жыл бұрын
@@garrywhittington2628 The melody itself is simple yes, but the double stopping, harmonies, variations, decorations and emphasis are all improvised between 2 musicians who need to listen closely to work off each other. In a Paganini piece all of that would be agreed on beforehand by the director based on what was written on the score. There's a lot going here if you aren't steeped in the tradition.
