I went to Jackie's house for scalar therapy this week. She apologized to me because her piano is dusty and a little out of tune. But I actually like playing on out of tune pianos. There are more tones than the 88 notes you hear on a pristinely tuned piano. When a piano has been through a lot and is kind of different it actually has more sounds in between the notes that you can play with! Plus, every piano has a different personality, a different life it's lived, and I like to tune into that (pun intended) when I sit down to play.
