I don't know how long it takes you to create these solos, but it's going to take me months to get through it all! This is loaded would amazing techniques and theories, broken down in a digestible format. If I found a genie bottle today I would wish for your skill set. Bravo!

Thanks man! How long? In a way I guess it’s taken 42 years… but in truth it takes me about 2-6 hours of thinking and experimenting to decide on the compositional elements. My process: I tend to start from a raw take that’s good and then focus on how to make it great. After that initial take, the time is mainly spent figuring out exactly what I did so I can teach it while buffing up the rough spots. I sometimes fall short of that goal… but it’s fun to try. Oddly enough, this channel has been really good for my playing too. Best, JD

42 years. That explains the fluidity and ease in which you play. Great advanced lesson

Yes… But just try getting one or two licks at a time. Helpful to think of it in chunks

It’s worth noting all this doesn’t just hatch fully formed. My playing live is usually less concentrated and more reactive to the moment… typically a little more space between ideas. This format tends to require a little more density. A little too showy. Bottom line, don’t get discouraged. It’s not like this was totally improvised.

Never realized how perfectly third stone from the sun fit with estimated. Two of the best songs ever IMHO, you're so much fun to listen to man and thank you for sharing your knowledge/talent

Thanks Brad! They don’t really fit together perfectly…I kind of shoehorned it in there. Just having a little fun I suppose. My best! Jack

It sounds badass! Specially for the fact you're not pretending to be Jerry note by note, instead you threw some nuances of your own which are awesome

Great as usual, always happy to see you post Dead videos. You have such distinct phrasing and touch, I feel like I could hear ten guitarists play this song and I’d be able to pick out which one is yours (in a good way).

Nah…I’m just getting started with this bad boy. I love this song but I must admit I’ve never gotten to play it with a band. So I don’t really have a live version together. Thanks for the comment… and your enthusiasm😀✌️
