For awhile, he lived in Orange County, CA, same time I did. He is a couple years older than me. In my late teens, I saw him more than a few times at The Troubador, The Mecca in Orange, The Golden Bear across from the pier in Huntington Beach, and probaly 15 other places over the last decades. We all have artists who shaped our lives, but I am profoundly fortunate that Jackson Browne first entered my life when I was 17, sitting in a three dollar seat, 10 feet away from him. Priceless!

My music teacher in high school used to sing this song to the class. Old people's music. Now he's gone & I hear it in a way I never heard it back then. "These days I seem to think a lot about the things that I forgot to do. For you." Miss you, Mr. Blackwood.

"Don't confront me with my failures, I have not forgotten them". Pretty grown up lyrics for a young man who was only 17 years old when he wrote this song.............. last month Bieber wrote "check out my new haircut", and "I'll be your boyfriend for a red-bull" composed on a kazoo.

Well done Martin , it's not as easy as it looks. I 've seen a lesson where the tutor suggests bringing the bottom E up to F for those who haven't got big hands, now that's a good teacher. Those chords are relatively easy it's the finger picking that takes a bit of work.

How few humans on this planet can sit on a stage and create something so compelling with just their voice, their fingers and a fine stringed instrument. I have been listening to jackson pour out his soul in song for forty years now. It never gets old. I came here tonite because "these Days" was ringing in my head all of it's own accord. No radio prompt, no cover no emotional entree. I was just "hearing" it and i had to come hear it.

The fact that Jackson Browne could move you to tears through his music is probably the best compliment you could ever give him. toddcharry "Having a soft heart in a cruel world takes courage not weakness". Those are such true words. Being true to yourself and not allowing anyone or anything to change that, takes courage and strength. It's easy to follow the pack. It takes strong character to walk alone not hiding behind a mask of indifference. It's a shame that more people aren't willing to do the same. It sure would make this world a much nicer and kinder place. Allow yourself to be genuine.

I am a Traumatic Brain Injury survivor and I will tell you this song means a great deal to me.The lyrics ring so true.I love this version and Greg Almans and now Glen Campbell is doing his version now on Glen's brand new cd. God Bless all of us and think of your brothers and sisters who can not remember "These Days"

So amazing to put in context life at sixteen. These words are true throughout life. 16 or 60. I keep waiting for things to change "these days" 54

Well I've been out walking I don't do that much talking these days These days- These days I seem to think a lot About the things that I forgot to do For you And all the times I had the chance to And I had a lover It's so hard to risk another these days These days- Now if I seem to be afraid To live the life I have made in song Well it's just that I've been losing so long I'll keep on moving Things are bound to be improving these days These days- These days I sit on corner stones And count the time in quarter tones to ten, my friend Don't confront me with my failures I had not forgotten them

Saw him in concert with David Lindley a year ago. What can I say other than... pure artistry. Poetry, music, style. Unforgettable.

There are moments in life where we are fortunate enough to experience something that speaks to our soul. For me, listening to this song is one of them.

Beautiful. Melancholy. "Don't confront me with my failures. I hae not forgoten them." Whew. Who cannot agree to a statement like that?

I can't believe he wrote this when he was 16. What a deep river of a man.
