Hi Alyona, Sounds like you may have too much water in the brush. A tip for working with Quills particularly synthetic which suffer a little with water control is to make sure you regulate the water in the brush and load the brush properly with paint rather than just dip the tip of a wet brush into paint. The best thing is to mix up enough paint onto your palette to load your brush, if you've rinsed your brush - remove the excess water on a rag or side of the water pot then load the brush fully (or sufficiently) from the palette. What you don't want is some paint in the tip followed by a big load of clear water in the body. Remember these are big brushes for big marks and big brushes use a lot of paint. Due to the smooth fibres in synthetic brushes, they have a tendency to dump water especially large brushes when pressed to the paper, natural hair have scales which help regulate the flow. The back runs or blooming you were getting was caused by clear water in the body of the brush being transferred into the wet paint when you used the brush on its side. Clear water will cause a bloom - Remember what you add to a wash must always be thicker than the wet paint already laid down. These brushes can draw fine lines, your brush sounds as if it was too wet - dry it off abit, it keeps the tip tighter and reduces the flow. I use both natural and synthetic quills they just handle a bit different and you just need to learn their ways. Good luck!

I have several Jackson Icon brushes and love them. Comparable to Princeton Aqua Elite I think. Stiffer than Silver Black Velvet or Princeton Neptune's but then I like a bit stiffer brush. Cheers.

Dang. I bought...or thought I bought....this brush from Jackson’s but it’s not the same one you have. For some reason I thought yours was synthetic, so I chose Jackson’s synthetic Raven quill, thinking it was the one you have. While I am really impressed with their fast shipping - 3 days to the states - WOW! - I am not impressed with this floppy Raven quill. It’s very dense and bendy. I went back to the website, and it looks like yours is the synthetic/sable mix quill. I should have paid more attention. Not that the Raven brush won’t be useful to me, just not for what I was hoping to use it for.
