The all-new, 10-episode second installment of THE X-FILES is executive-produced by creator Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson returning in their roles as iconic FBI Agents FOX MULDER and DANA SCULLY. Mitch Pileggi also returns as FBI Asst. Director WALTER SKINNER. Additionally, the all-new episodes will feature guest-star appearances by Annabeth Gish, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Karin Konoval, Barbara Hershey, Haley Joel Osment and William B. Davis, who reprises his role as “Cigarette Smoking Man.” Along with Carter, series veteran Glen Morgan serves as an executive producer.
In 2016, THE X-FILES drew an average Multi-Platform audience of nearly 16 million viewers and was last season’s No. 2 broadcast drama. It also was the season’s most talked-about event series on Twitter.
THE X-FILES originally premiered in September 1993. Over the course of its nine-season run, the influential series went from breakout sci-fi favorite to massive global hit, and became one of the most successful television dramas of all time. The show, which earned 16 Emmy Awards, five Golden Globes and a Peabody Award, follows FBI special agents Scully and Mulder, as they investigate unexplained cases - “X-Files” - for which the only answers involve paranormal phenomena.

Mulder is William's biological father. CSM tried to take credit over it because he's the one who restored Scully's fertility by re-activating her microchip in her neck. That chip clearly had the ability to affect her biological functions. CSM manipulated the situation so that Mulder and Scully would conceive William. When William was talking about his father whom he's come to hate, he was in fact talking about Mulder. William hates Mulder for abandoning him and that's what he actually did. He continued his crusade in season 9. That's why Mulder only got to spent TWO DAYS with his son. Despite that, William chooses to sacrifice himself to save his parents from his psychopathic grandfather. One day they will find their way back to each other and finally be a family. Besides William is about to become a big brother.

And don´t forget Emily!!! She is his half-sister and i am so sad that she didn´t apppear in the last 2 seasons at all, even not mentioned. 😞

Brilliant performance again from Gillian! Given the material she was given for her very last time as Scully. Really, really Chris Carter. And no kiss, I can't believe this! But I'm glad he let them stay together, and start over (off screen I hope, no more xfiles for me). The finale wasn't what I was expecting, after 25 years of loyal services as a fan, but I had rock-bottom expectations for this episode so now that I've watched it, I can say I didn't hate it. It's an OK finale! I gave up on having a great show, good times come no more! But I'll count my blessings, none of them was killed (Skinner is still alive to me). I was shocked though that William turned out to be so evil, like father like son. I loved him in Ghouli thinking he would be Mulder's son, but CC had to screw this storyline until the end, he has been since the very beginning he just had to keep going. That's actually the part I am most mad about. Never mind the forgotten alien colonisation, and plot holes but this one really hurt. I feel violated for Scully, her rape will never be acknowledged, and she seems ok with it! Male writing!!!! Anyhow, I really love the last 5 minutes of this episode, this dialogue was your best work in the revival Carter. Thank you for trying, hope now this show can rest. M&S deserve to be happy and start anew.

We need a movie to round out this amazing franchise but I think David and Gillian would need huge input into the writing, Gillian especially. If he could convince her to take part, that is. I hold onto the fact that CSM was lying about being William’s father ( confirmed on the X Files Diaries podcast) and William knows who his actual father is, so at least there’s that.

But why, WHY had Skinner and Reyes have to die ... I'm soo incredibly glad that the didnt kill of Scully or Mulder but hell why these too they were great 😟
