JFRD responded to an apartment building which sustained a lightning strike which consequentially caught the attic on fire of a large apartment building. Crews pulled ceilings from the inside, then used the "elephant trunk" from the top to extinguish the fire prior to it burning the lid off.
There were no injuries reported in this fire, and a dog was successfully rescued from an apartment and returned to the owners.

That was a clever use of a cellar nozzle for an attic fire. Well done.

Celler nozzle, they were very popular late 60s to mid 80s. They seem to have disappeared from the service

@@shanestamball1886 I still see them in videos once in a while usually inside the building so you don’t get to see them may also be called in Benson pipe.

I will say great firefighting here but I did notice a lack of ground ladders from this angle until about 5 minutes in, those are important for firefighter safety and their seems to be plenty of people available to "ladder" the building. Am I just not seeing something or is this something that you could improve on?
@thejfrd2490

Pretty sure ladders went around to the backside first...then to the front...more fire to the back...but there is always room for improvement.

Personally I think the Fire Department should just mill arround while the fire progresses to complete loss of the building. Oh wait, they are. 😕

Wtf are you talking about? They saved that building! They are interior working, you can’t see that, and clearly you don’t understand how foreground operations work, you have no clue how an attic fire works. And the guys “standing around” are on deck waiting to go to work

This has to be the laziest paid fire department I have ever watched . Most paid companies and volunteer companies would of been on that roof cutting vent holes and on the second floor pulling ceiling down to fight the fire not standing around watching a ladder go up with a cellar nozel on it . Omg I would be ashamed.
@thejfrd2490
@thejfrd2490 9 ай бұрын
There were crews on the inside...the little bit of fire left after interior crews put the bulk of the fire out, was extinguished by that nozzle... You may be ashamed because you know not what you speak of...but we are a proud department...and a very aggressive and effective one. But thanks for watching!

One thing that is often overlooked is the amount of fresh air that is introduced into attic spaces through ventilation practices. Cutting a hole in the roof may let some smoke out, but it is definitely going to introduce a surge of oxygen to the fire and the fire will grow exponentially if there is not enough water being put on the flames. JFRD interior crews did an awesome job controlling the spread of fire through proper ceiling pulling which in turn limited the amount of fresh air that the flames received.
