The truly terrifying part is realizing that the pumpkin is smiling the whole time not because he’s having a good time with the kid, but because he’s thinking about what he’s about to do to the kid

What I love about this is that at no point does the kid attempt to run, even once his teeth falls out. He is still transfixed by the pumpkin song, showing that he knows he's doomed, but he cannot pry himself away from the almost hypnotic gaze. It speaks to our comfort with things that change our perception of time, even when these things are killing us.

That relatable moment when you get into a house in the woods and meet a singing pumpkin who so happens to be the devil's reincarnate that wants to feed you to his cats.

i think the message may be: -to watch after your children. once their gone, theres not that much hope left for them. -that the nicest/most chilled people could also be the bad ones, that end up destroying you. -that no one is save of pumpkins with a smile that lasts even after hes done horrible things to some child.

I love how creepy this is. In the end it gives you this sense of anxiety. It just shows the cabin in the woods. The pumpkin is always smiling and seems like he enjoys doing this. The wind blowing in the beginning adds the perfect ambience. The pumpkin knows what it's doing and doesn't have any remorse or regret after saying he will feed the child to his cat as well as making him go blind and making his teeth fall out. The pumpkin knows that nothing will happen to him even after killing possibly multiple children before this. Everyone will just give up looking for the child after he is nowhere to be found for years. The animation style is perfect for this song because it feels like an old horror movie.

I have a theory, from other comments. The theory is that the pumpkin is a metaphor for drugs, in which the kid entering the pumpkin's house is like using drugs. At first, the pumpkin is being nice/ the euphoric effect of substances. Then, it starts harming him (the child). And eventually, the child is way too harmed by the harmful effects that he passes away. Or it could be the pumpkin is a literal demon that hunts children that wonder unto his house.

Absolutely terrifying to think that he makes time feel slower, so you have to endure those other tortures for even longer...

The fact that he doesn’t come out of the house is the scariest part

I like how unnerving Staubers stuff can be, it’s unsettling and in a good way. The kid looks panicked and the pumpkin is enjoying what he’s doing to this kid. And the singing. It’s creepy but in that good way

Maybe this is a way of saying don't go in unknown Houses or cabins because anything can happen be careful who you talk to and anything can be dangerous be careful when your alone especially at night in the woods and as a kid don't go running off in the woods.

Honestly though, these kinds of horror are far scarier than most kinds of horrors shown in movies and other shows; It's like whenever they say the chillest person is the scariest when they're mad, Making something that seems so innocent-looking and positive and suddenly putting that world upside down. This is basically like happy tree friends, except more horror instead of just gore

I will never understand how addictive Jack's songs are, they make you want to put them on repeat and leave them there until you get tired

It is how fast the child's demise happens that baffles me.

The ending made is what convinced me that this man is truly genius. No scream, no splattering gore-simply a silent shot of the creepy old house. The desolation amplifies the horror tenfold.
