Jacky Cheung: 吻別 (國) 【English translated + pinyin】

3 жыл бұрынI don't know why it's taken me this long to finally make a video for Jacky Cheung's arguably best Mandarin song, 吻別 ("Kiss Goodbye" or "Goodbye Kiss") but here it is.
This song is IMMENSELY popular and has been covered by many other artists. There is an English version by Michael Learns to Rock called "Take Me To Your Heart" (I made a video for Jin Chi's cover of it here: • Chinese Melody KTV - T... ) and at least one Chinese Melody version.
All video animations, lyrics translation and the overall presentation were done by me. Static background image was obtained from Google Images search on public domain website.

My parents played these songs a lot, and I never found English translations that made sense until now. This song's meaning is much sadder than I thought, but I'm glad to know what it means. :') Your whole channel is a nostalgic trip. Thank you!

Goodness!! Never thought this masterpiece was created by Chinese 😅I remember back when I was a kid every Sunday evening all the kids in my community will gather to sing this song. It was so popular that this song was played in every occasion.

Yeah, about 20 years ago, an American band named Michael Learns to Rock adapted this song into English, which was Take Me To Your Heart.😁😁

It's always SO wonderful to finally see the lyrics to the songs he gave me for the years I knew him. He played this one often in my presence. So sad. So true. Against all odds, I do believe in true love. Love isn't easy; it takes a tremendous amount of determination, patience, and effort that most people just don't have. Love is flawed. Love takes time to prove. Love hurts. But I wouldn't trade it for anything.

1:42 ,3:40, and 3:59. Might be a 不 instead of a 上 in the 讓風痴笑我(上->不)能拒絕 phrase. Although looking at the lyrics online, I do see 上. But you can clearly hear the 不 in the song though. Let me know what you think!

Thing is, we humans are very similar genetically. Like features that are very typically European are not solely European, you can find similar facial features from Ethiopia to Hokkaido. Features that might considered solely East Asian can be found in South Africa such as the Khoisan and you can see epicanthic eyes in Africa and Northern Europe, Eastern Europe and Scandinavia. And likewise you can find similar facial features from South America to Subsahara Africa His father is from Tianjin (northeastern coastal china near Beijing) which might explain what you are looking for. My grandmother has a very flat nose but because of my grandfather (Shandong) most of us have a much more prominent nose.
